As far as a well swapped MRS, well that is about the only car I would consider selling my FRS for (I'd be happy with a 2zz). Those were such underrated cars with so much potential. When Toyota had plans for a new sports car (FT-86) I couldn't wait. Part of the reason I am always pointing out the flaws of my FRS is I had too high expectations from Toyota after what was being done with the MRS.
Really two different animals and I couldn't and wouldn't live without both. For me every type of car has a relatively clearly defined envelope withing which it was designed to operate. It's like asking me whether I like a scalpel (super precise-MR), swiss army knife (maximum daily utility-FRS) or katana (absolute cutting power-GTR/FT-1/Supra?) better.

So I would compare the mk2 to the mk1 and mk3 and thus chose mk3. For my swiss army duties, I decided the FRS was a better tool than my Legacy GT for my typical needs atm.

Yes, I agree with you. So many here think the twins are go-cart like scapels but they really are more of a swiss army knife. They do handle nicely but not like a MR-S or Elise, but they are perform close plus they are comfortable at 90 mph on the highway. I classify them as a mini-GT, and swiss army knife is a great description.

I drove an automatic BRZ yesterday and didn't like it at all. The manual makes this car in my eyes. I completely felt the lack of power with the auto. That said, I also didn't like the auto R/T Challenger which has double the hp. The cars come alive with the manuals.
I test drove the Camaro again. Man, I'm just not sure.
Anyway, if it was between the following, which would you go for-
(1) 2013 FRS base, black, manual, will do 100k powertrain, 21k at 1.9% for 60 months, after market navigation/Sirius for $1100.
(2) 2013 BRZ base, Silver, 23k with 0% for 63 months, has navigation and Sirius and the better suspension, fog lights, and the spoiler. Supposedly the dealer offers a lifetime free powertrain warranty.
(3) silver Camaro, $21,240 at 0% for 72 months. Four years ago I was going to buy a Camaro. The husband talked me into the Challenger.

I prefer black but could live with silver. I have no sense of direction and like Sirius. I can plug my phone in the car for Sirius. I could buy a garman. I do like built in navigation.

I'm likely going today. Last thing, realistically, with my 122 miles per day in traffic (2-2.5 hrs ugh), my husband will likely drive this way more than me. I'll take it once a week. He will drive it to keep mileage off of the Challenger. He likes the FRS/BRZ more than the Camaro.

Hah. I was not a happy lawyer. I've been teaching math and physics for the past ten years (I'm 35).

I did represent metal bands and guitar manufacturers, so that was interesting, but you can't live your life working 7:15 am to 10 pm.

That whole thing seemed really confusing! I think a clutch is easier compared to the auto layout.

Not sure of this was just my dealer but I got a free lifetime warranty on my powertrain for my fr-s. And I personally prefer the front fascia of the fr-s. I would recommend looking at the aspects of a car that u cannot live without and try to weigh those. And as I've driven a camaro and have an fr-s I prefer the feel and connection of the fr-s. Can't deny I love a v8's torque but I wouldn't give up the agility of my baby for anything less than super car power. Even then it would be a mental battle. Just my 2 cents, but to me the twins beat muscle every time. Best of luck with your purchase. I hope u get nothing but happiness.

[QUOTE=Jen;1667541]That whole thing seemed really confusing! I think a clutch is easier compared to the auto layout.[1/QUOTE]

The big multispeed tranny and torque converter rob hp and response. If people think a carbon drive shaft helps the car think about how opposite the auto is to that mindset. Plus autos don't last as long as manuals. The auto's are for folks with city commutes and plan on not keeping the car much past warranty.

There will be a huge market for auto to manual conversion kits when the autos start gumming up. Just like the 240sx only more incentive because rebuilding the 6 speed auto will be expensive.

A remember when cherry S13's were selling for $10k I found an auto with 30k miles in perfect condition for $2k and didn't buy it. Still regret that one once the kits came out.

BTW this forum needs a lawyer, can you represent me against troll happy posters pro bono ?

Sports + Manual is no different than Manual on it's own. Sport + Auto changes how aggressive it is.

I didn't even attempt it. I have a car with the manual mode, I have never used it.
