Tell this to everyone who buys Hemi's/Camaro's/Mustang's/Corvettes and revs at you at stop lights.

bedabi & gtaqv, thanks for that additional input. Didn't see that earlier. That is an improvement. Heck, maybe C&D will have times borderline faster still!

BTW my GSR's 0-60 time is 6.8, and that includes a shift to 3rd gear (2nd runs out at 57)

Heck man, whether I'm driving my S2000 or GSR the only idiots that try to race me are usually in (untastefully) modified Civics. And I ignore them.

All this talk has made me decide to get a couple JATOs just in case I need to drag race a Prius or something. Anyone want to get in on group buy? Kidding...

I'm not buying my next car for 0-60 speeds. If I want that I'll take my Honda 919 out for a spin like I did yesterday in the beautiful Spring weather. 0 - 60 on it is hovers around 3 seconds, and it will do it in 1st gear. Top speed about 145 but I seriously doubt I'd get there without having my arms ripped off trying to hold on in the wind with no fairing.

Lets face it folks if the 0 to 60 time is 7.3 secs, the car is slow...slower than a 2012 Scion tC. We all know its not going to be like this. Inside Line had a bad car or they just did not know how to drive it or they had bad gas. Plus it was still a pre-production BRZ.

On the FR-S, 0 to 60 will avg in the low to mid 6 secs range...we maybe may even see some upper 5 secs.

0 to 60 does matters...Why? Because there will always be a 0 to 60. If it did not matter the magazines would not test for it.

This car can't be slower than a miata or a tC......

The power to weight ratio is better on this car, it has to be faster.

Oh and there is a reason why the embargo has not been lifted yet on the FR-S magazine testing.

You could have guessed that; their power to weight are similar.

Drivetrain/drivetrain loss obviously being a big factor there too, makes it harder to straight up compare though.

I think anybody who does race light to light is going to be severely disappointed. Imo keep racing to tracks if you want to keep your car and not go into debt paying fines.

When all the reviews are in 0-60 will average much closer to 7 than 6. I agree with all who post this in not meant to be a 0-60 car. 40-60 and cornering are far more important fun factors...

Not entirely, subtract 5% ish off the rated flywheel horsepower and then recompare.

We've calculated the top speeds in each gear before, I think a true 60mph won't happen until 7 second because you have to go into 3rd, but you can get to like 59.5 or something close enough in under 7.

I'm not either. But 0-60 is a good benchmark measurement of how fast a car can accelerate. Unless the vehicle in question is massively powerful and overwhelms its tires or has extremely low torque 0-60 is something to go off of in comparing the car without driving it. If 0-60 takes 7 seconds its a given that you're not gonna get hard shove into your seat when doing a full throttle acceleration from 50-70 mph, or 80-100.

I thought the BRZ was specifically designed to hit 100 km/hr or 62 mph in second gear, perhaps im wrong. There is no way however, that this car is slower than the tC. Perhaps there were some ecu issues with some of the cars, similar to what happened with the very early Gen Coupe cars that were tested.

Uh, no. If the car does 0-59 in 6.5 seconds, and 0-60 in 7 because it needs to shift, you'll get just as much of a "shove into your seat" as a car that does 0-60 in 2nd gear in 6.6 seconds. It's not the 0-60 time that matters, that depends on gearing. It's the acceleration in the lower gears that determines the "shove into your seat". 0-60 is not a good benchmark of how fast a car accelerates because gearing changes things a lot. I'd say 1/4 / 1/8 mile is marginally better, best is peak acceleration in each gear.

At higher speeds the acceleration is lower anyways, you probably need more power to get a real "shove into your seat" if I'm understanding you correctly.
