I traded in a 2012 Civic Si Coupe for my 2014 BRZ Limited. I have driven Civic's for the past 12 years, had a 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th Gen...all coupes, all manuals, all were a lot of fun to drive and mod. They were great, as a teenager, now that I'm almost 30 it was time to upgrade....went from a $20,000 car to a $30,000 car and I'm dammed glad I made the upgrade. Don't see how anyone can say that the Civic Si is a sport's car, because now that I own a BRZ I can see how the Civic Si is a Sporty Economy Car targeting a younger market segment. I am a little sad that the BRZ doesn't have the low end torque and lacks the acceleration that the K24 gave the 9th Gen Si's but, the FR-S/BRZ twins out handle the Si, they are 10" shorter in length yet still retain the same size headroom and legroom in the interior, I have leather now (Civic interiors have gotten pretty slick but still no leather), I've got HID's and Push Button Start, Navigation is standard and so are the summer tires, and it's a RWD car. I will never buy another Honda again until Honda can get with the program and actually start competing with the rest of the Auto Mfr's out there. My BRZ gets 27mpg and I got 34mpg on the Si, like I said, the Civic is an economy car. Honda has finally made some big changes in the interior and exterior of the 9th Gen Si's but they are still way off from competing. I'm happy with my BRZ, and I know everyone else is, I get asked everywhere I go, "what is that badass little car?" People tell me all the time how sexy my Subaru is and talk about how far Subaru's have come! I never once was told that any of my Civic's were badass or sexy, except for from teenage boys who couldn't afford a brand new Si! Just ordered the Innovate Motorsports Supercharger kit for the BRZ, can't wait to smoke Honda's and Acura's all day long at the track this summer! Goodbye VTEC, hello Boxer!

I kinda wish honda put the k24w in the si. For reference, that's the direct injection motor that's in the 13+ accord sport model. It has WAY better low end power from 1k to 5k rpms than the si motor does while making the same peak power the si engine does.

I think it makes like 20 more wheel torque from 2-5k rpms than the k24z7 does.

Anyways, i really like the brz and fr-s and hope they continue to improve upon them. Honda doesn't seem to be up to the task unless we see something drastic in the next 2 years.

Almost bought a 08 civic si 4door a few years ago. Theyre ok for what they are. The only thing that bothers me is Toyota decides to mass produce this car called the frs and im having flashbacks of the late 90s when Civics run the streets.

Look at the bright side. Mass produce means more used parts on Ebay and more affordable aftermarket mods. Not to mention other companies might jump in the band wagon and produce their own version of the twins.

I had great respect for civics until the 7th gen. After that, their exterior became way too ugly for me and I just can't picture myself in that thing, SI or not.

I don't know how anyone goes from a BRZ/FR-S to an SI. I had an RSX before this and it always left me a little, underwhelmed. It was a good care for when I had it, but it never handled the track well, and it wasn't a lot of fun to drive (though it was nice to look at).

The FR-S/BRZ just drives better, IMO. It's also nicer.

Mass produce? 99% of cars are mass produced as long as there is demand for it. Hell, Rolls Royce is mass produced if there is enough buyers.

This car is too impractical too become mainstream like the civic. I believe that more people desire our cars than a civic but lifestyle will keep many people from actually buying them. This is not a practical car.

No it actually wouldn't be. They (RR) would increase production but they wouldn't move away from what items are already hand crafted. And mass production of a Civic (400,000) is different than the demand for a RR, which is around 1,000.
