OE is about 20.5-21lbs depending on the scale. Wheel + tire is about 41-41.5lbs, again depending on the scale (and which tires you might have received as OE).

Here's a nice article to explain wheel weights and sizes as related to static weights, polar moment of inertia as applies to initial force, momentum and deceleration, and merits of strength.

What do you mean depending of the scale? They have OE in differences scales?

You're giving a lot of good information but a suggestion. If you're going to recommend things such as spacers and tires, I would give more details like:

"Buy a quality set of spacers made by a reputable company such as [fill in blank] or [fill in blank]. I'd also recommend you use RE11A tires sized [fill in blank] with your OEM wheels...use anti-sieze compund such as [fill in blank] when mating spacers to wheel hub...remove spacers when tracking..."

I'm not saying this as a ding on you, after all you are providing great information but some of us not in the know, we either have to try to fill in the blanks on our own or ask more questions to get clarification.

On a side note, do you think the TRD wheels are made by the same company (such as Enkei) as the OEM wheels are? Personally I am not a fan of the stock wheels but I do like the TRD wheels. I will have to do some research and personally I think $225 a pop from factory parts department is pretty reasonable.

I can definitely do that, except it may offend people when they realized it's not what their buddies told them. My PM inbox is always open.

On another note, I have no idea if TRD is made by Enkei, but I do know what most of TRD parts are just private labelled components. For example, the TRD kit is a standard Stoptech BBK. That's because I know someone who was testing out the kit before the release.

TRD wheels are nice. If it's the style and fitment you want, then pick it up. I know for sure that TRD won't find a crappy manufacturer to make parts for them. They have some sort of quality standard at the very least that they uphold.

Scales have +/- errors. Meaning, not all scales are calibrated extremely precise and accurate.

Drive your car and enjoy what Toyota/Subaru has developed. After driving street modified, race prepped, and full gutted/caged cars, I can tell you factory cars off the lot are quite impressive. Of course, picking up some proper brake pads and fluids ensures long sessions of fun.

LOL! RE-11A is a great all-around tire for street and track. It has a good balance of dry and wet grip. The feedback is good and audible and the sidewalls are quite stiff.

Hankook RS3 is the best street tire for dry grip. Dunlop Z2 is close to an RS3, but it's a little peaky. Yokohama AD08R is a great tire, but the grip level isn't quite as good as the RS3, but the wet grip is significantly better than RS3 or Z2. Federal 595RS-R and BF Goodridge Rivals are probably the bottom of the barrel in terms of EHP tires (140-200 TW). They are still much better than your 200+ TW tires, but they aren't as good in the list above.

@Mikepage I think you really want to change the wheels because you want something lighter, but can't find them due to high cost. I recently bought used Advan wheel/tire on ebay. I was able to negotiate with the seller and I got a good price out of it. If you're really going after "Performance", follow what CGS David suggested. If you're looking to change the appearance, save up some more cash and get the style you want + tires that were suggested. Good luck!!

oh, and the ebay seller was in Quebec. Look for Japan Imported parts. Lots of JDM goodies.

I agree. Having had a 350Z, S2000 and a Shelby GT500 I think this car has a lot to offer from the factory. This is the first "sports" car I actually plan on keeping for a long time (though I do miss the S2000 at times).

Personally, I've always believed that upgrades should go in the order of tires/brakes, cooling, suspension, wheels and then power adders. Too often I see people jumping right to the big power adders before upgrading the others. My GT500 taught me real quick that big power can become useless without the others upgrades first.
