Does the BRZ/FRS MT have straight cut gears?

I seem to remember reading somewhere that the FRS has straight cut gears, rather than helical. I can't find any info anymore, though.

If your car is daily driven, you wouldn't want that.

I wouldn't mind the whine, but the maintenance would be excessive

yeah I like the whine as well. I installed a billet input shaft in my other car because I had already snapped two and it came with a longer straight cut first gear and I love the way it sounds

If your car sounds like that in first and second, you have straight cut gears.

Note how this is what reverse sounds like in most cars.......

Give it a little time and I'm sure PPG or a similar company will start making gearsets. I'd love a straight cut 1-4 with 5 and 6 being helical. Synchoed, maybe pro-shifted... definitely no dog engagement unless someone can flash the ecu to do spark cut for no lift shifts.... oh wait, I need another 300hp first.

*edit* more straight cut madness, most of the noise in this vid is the trans

This is one of my favorite driving videos. I swear he shifts into 8th or 9th gear on the L--O--N--G straight just before the end of the lap. I still wish BMW had made a production E46 M3 with a V8, even if it was just a homologation special. Then maybe they would have allowed the M3 GTR to race more.

Hans-Joachim Stuck is without a doubt my favorite driver of all time. IMO he was probably the best out there for a long time, at least in the "production car" world. It's too bad real "sports cars" aren't popular in the US anymore. I guess all the rednecks got tired of being too drunk to walk to a different part of the track to see a different part of the race. Now they just show up to a party and people start racing in circles.

I'm always down with homologation specials. PLZ PLZ PLZ subaru can we have a "real" STI twin, maybe a turbo FA20, Hewland 6 speed with Ohlins dampers and some real brakes.

Or, sell bodies in white stateside...

Hey, some of us are still enjoying PWC and IMSA racing! And we are never "too" drunk to walk to another part of the track. Even if it is up and down hills everywhere. I think the NASCAB popularity is mostly about general laziness of the populace.

That was just a general rant about NASCAR. The true die hard race fans still make it out to the real racing. I have a little glimmer of hope since Circuit of The Americas was built a couple years ago.
