Avoid South Coast Subaru
Took my car in for a warranty issue (steering wheel was peeling) and asked to not have my car test driven. Even had them put it in the notes for service. I asked for two reasons: the car is modified extensively and I knew they would take it out for fun and two I'm having transmission issues. Get the car back with six extra miles on it, no manager to talk to, nobody who knows what happened, and they'll call me. And now my transmission issues are even worse. I guess I'll update this if they call me back with any sort of justification and remedy.

Yeah the brz steering wheel peels they cut corners in both cars and included parts in one that are top notch and lacking in the other. The steering wheels for instance the frs has a leather stock while the brz has a rubber based product. This, this is very annoying about the cars but, to appeal to different demographics I guess it's a must oh well.

Hope you took pics of the mileage or at least it should be written on the paperwork. On another note I've never had issues with south coast :/ maybe you can get a new tranny out of this

Just talked to the manager (I called them since they still hadn't called) and he truly acted like I was an inconvenience to his day. He said he'd ask his tech why they drove it but because my car is modified they aren't responsible for anything and there is nothing they can do. The mileage was noted but they just don't care. So beyond them losing business through word of mouth of their service practices and filing an official complaint with Subaru there's little I can do. Off to Evasive, again.

lol I remember visiting that dealership like 2 years to check out BRZ.
Forgot what the issue was, but I do remember being very pissed off at them. |

Got a call back saying they needed to drive it to make sure they alignment was right and they have a two mile path they take cars on. And it wasn't right...three times. And his tech didn't read the notes to not drive it. And he talked to his staff about reading the notes. And that the tech said he didn't feel any transmission issues despite the fact that I can't get into first gear right now. I guess that covers his bases and they feel like the matter is settled.

I unfortunately will back this up...
although my car was not in for service, I went there to buy a car. It was BY FAR the most HORRENDOUS experience I've had at a dealership. I get being pushy and wanting to make a sale, but they went above and beyond to be complete a-holes, and when I made it clear that I was no longer interested in purchasing a car from them(even though I wanted the car baddd haha) they became aggressive, demeaning and told me I wouldnt have been able to get a vehicle from them anyway. I made sure I stopped by to re-assure them I was no longer interested in purchasing a car from them, two days later after I bought a car elsewhere. I told them that "my trade in was no longer available". And just an FYI, the acura dealer next door is either in collaboration, or owned by the same people. Or at least it was a few years ago. |

They got back to me this morning explaining that it was warranty procedure to drive the car and I shouldn't have had it covered if I required no test drive. They admitted fault on their part for lack of communication and driving the car anyways. Then they offered to help assist me with my transmission issues but not under any warranty (which is fine) and not anything for free for breaking customer trust. This manager was much nicer though and did seem to want to be helpful. Still leaves a pretty sour taste in my mouth but at least they are trying to make good now, sort of. Maybe they read the forums.

Possibly, they charge you hefty price to fix ur transmission. Let us know how much you pay.

Edit: I filed a complaint with Subaru of America. SoA contacted the dealership and the dealership lied to them saying that the odometer only moved 1 mile when the moved in and out of the bay and they never test drove it. They even wrote down the number of the mileage before it left as proof. But that number they wrote down is a lie and they've even called me and admitted they test drove it three times to get the alignment right. So either SoA is making this up for no reason or somebody at that dealership is blatantly lying and forging numbers so they don't get in any trouble. Quality establishment.

I hate these guys too. Tried to swindle every single penny I had when I bought the BRZ. Had to haggle DOWN from a mark up and barely paid below MSRP a year after the twins came out. Visited the dealership twice, left the first time from being pissed off. To make matters worse, the first time I checked the vehicle there weren't any swirl marks on the paint in broad daylight Next time I came back they moved it into the showroom and it was in the evening, so I hadn't noticed the swirls. Called them the next day and asked them if they took it in for a wash.. Yep turns out they did. I told them there's swirl marks on my car and ask to speak to the manager. After some arguing back & forth, he just basically said sorry you're shit out of luck, you signed the papers already it's not our responsibility.
