The BRZ thus perpetrates a splendid and useful fraud on its buyers: a not-so-fast sport coupe that is an absolute riot to drive." |

This is pretty much a bespoke platform and engine. Never mind they've dug into Subaru's parts bin heavily, and pooled engineering resources to "git er dun". This was a lot of time spent perfecting a car that won't be sold in any kind of volume to make much profit. This is why it will probably see a 7 year + life span. There is no way they will make "a lot of money on each one". Possibly. |

Ahahaaa....why so serious? It was a simple question. I don't see the benefits of the GC over an FR-S. And if weight was ok, then I don't see the benefit of a GC over the Mustang.
You are really going to argue about 25lbs just because of the amount of gas? |

I guess one thing about the GC over the Mustang is that it isn't a Ford (I know Ford has really increased their quality but many still don't like domestic cars). Another thing is the quality of the Hyundai interior. Some like the way that looks vs the retro Mustang. Another is the Hyundai warranty. Another is that there are all kinds of Mustangs around vs the GC being more rare. I think the GC offers a great value with a mix of good performance, interior, standard options, quality and price. But those are just my thoughts. |

Actually I think pricing the FR-S is actually an ingenious marketing scheme by Toyota/Scion to sell more tC's. Think about it, the idea of the new vehicle draws people to the lots so they can oggle and be dazzled by it. They look at the price and gasp in horror then point to the tC. Look! 5k cheaper and looks just as good!
Its kinda like the Versa strategy in reverse... I doubt anyone actually even buys the lowest model, when for just a few k more I can get the better one... .... I muse... |

i think the issue i have with it is that I DON'T need a new car that offers 2700lb /200hp 2 doors, and low center of gravity.
I've had that once a long time ago... My point is, if i'm getting one...its going to be used. It isn't THAT special enough to justify 25k. I brought the type R into the discussion is because..THAT was a total bargain for its class. FRS - not really a best in its class. What is my money really paying for that is worth 25k? Only up side is that it is NEW. While real FRS competitions are all dead or old. GTi- that's a bargain because you're buyin an A3 in a sportier characteristic.
