As a BRZ review it's a fail, but as an analysis about what's needed in a car to have serious fun driving off-track, Dan has a very solid argument to make - worth viewing to hear that.

How he shows the car is how 99% of the fleet will spend 99.9% of their time.

Agreed. I guess the reviewers point that the car is fun and you don't need 500hp is why many of us are interested in the car. But could he do it with any less enthusiasm? Didn't really do a proper review of the car. That was my point.

I thought the FR-S would be the less expensive of the two cars and as such had hoped it would be closer to 22k vs 25k. The nice thing though is the "new grad" program and great credit score mean I can hope for a 23k price but realistically Im going to have to get preapproved for a 25k loan to buy this car.

we realize that the BRZ's respectable 69.1-mph slalom speed and striking 0.92g on the skid pad are more definitive of its character than is its acceleration. Those numbers are better than both the 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe (67.4 mph slalom, 0.89g skid pad) and the 2011 Ford Mustang GT (67.3 mph slalom, 0.91g skid pad).
For those that want real road-test comparison numbers to the GC and Mustang GT...Inside Line's review from here http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4397

True, but that's very much his style. Very low key and unexciting. For him, he was almost drooling in this one.

As far as we can tell, it is. Guess we'll see when the BRZ prices are officially released. I suspect there will be a $1000 difference between them which covers the different equipment. Can't expect much more difference than that since all the costs for manufacturing etc are the same.

Also, don't forget Subaru will not list the car including destination charges, and Scion is (at least on their website).

I liked the WSJ one because the guy's whole 500 hp example is almost word for word what my dad said when i bought a C5...but he said it with an indian accent so it was much more EPIC

Kinda?

$22k in 1997 is $31k in 2012 dollars, and that's not even taking into account the astronomical value of the yen these days.

Toyota & Subaru are probably going to take a hosing on this.

If it was a hatch it would weight more and be more ugly. Hatches are not befitting of a real sports car! LOL!

Seriously though. I am glad it's a coupe. Let Acura bring back the next generation Integra as a hatch with frameless windows like the early intergras.

LOL - 2400+ posts is not enough?

I predict 25X00 is the target without destination, which means 26 with destination, and 27 with auto.
