Brake Discs Rusting
So I just got my car last week and the two brake discs on the passenger side already have a nice coating of rust on them. Is this something that everyone has experienced? I thought I remember reading somewhere that the discs are really sensitive to water and they rust up very easily.
Is this something that could be replaced under warranty because it seems a bit ridiculous that I have this car for a matter of a few days and the discs already look like shit

Drive it... Comes right off with use. Anything left to sides a cloth and brake clean done. Hardly a warranty thing.

Driving it somewhere dry and hitting the brakes firmly a few times should have that layer of rust come right off. Perfectly normal.

I know my question did seem probably seem kinda stupid, but it was simply my comparison between my 2000 Neon which used to be my DD and doesn't have a prominent layer of rust on the front disc brakes and this brand new car that already does within a few days of owning it. I am aware it is a fact of life that steel does rust, I just didn't expect it to happen so soon that's all

Its from sitting in a storage yard. When not moved for a few days/weeks dics will get a rust coating on them.
As above, a quick drive and some hard stops will work just fine

It doesn't even need to sit for a few days or a few weeks. Just a single day of rain or a washing of your car will cause a thin layer of rust over night.
Just like everyone said... first time you drive, the rust will be gone after hitting the brakes a couple times. |
