I'm just surprised they didn't want to trade him. I'm sure they have a plan though.

Hoping my Niners can nab Desean but it's looking more and more like he won't leave DC.

Seems DeSean will be a redskins. As a Eagles fan I personally don't consider releasing him a big deal. The past few years I have mentioned to my friends that he is fast but he just isn't a make or break player on the team. He gets frustrated the moment they are playing a high safety on him and gives no effort off the line when he knows the play isn't coming his way.
It's annoying to watch and if he does catch the underneath pass the man stutter steps or goes backwards always hoping to have the big blow up play rather then take that 6yard completion he just had.
And Jason Kelce tweet says it all to me. He wasn't friends or teammates with them. He came he played and then goes home to LA to work on his rap label. it seems to me Chip is trying to build a TEAM.

DeSean isn't a make or break player at all?

Don't get me wrong, the kid needs to straighten himself out. But not having him on our team makes our offense worse(statistically). We went from having one of the best offenses in the league, to having a good offense. They better have something up their sleeve. Maybe they can strike a deal with Miami since Mike Wallace wants out of there.

I was at that game actually. what I meant though by make or break, was as a team I don't think they go from 10-6 to 7-9. you know what I mean? he is an explosive player no questioning that. but I don't think he LeSean McCoy caliber player. McCoy is the kind of player that affects a seasons outcome overall. Jackson isn't.

Another eagles fan checking in here, I feel like Maclin's ability to recover from injury and actually fill in the #1 receiver spot is the main factor at play here on how the iggles do this year

He reminds me of Mike Wallace although he produces more. As a dolphins fan I'd rather have desean over mike and his HR's or nothing.

I'll give mike 1 more year though.

Yup, and this is what i'm most worried about. Banking on Maclin being real productive 1 year after an ACL injury I don't think is smart.

I really want the draft to be now because I really want to see what the Eagles are gonna do.

he recovered ok from his ACL injury in college. maybe now with better trainers and everything he should be fine. i would also imagine they saw Maclin progress and were pleased where he was at enough to let Jackson go. remember the Eagles wanted to sign him to a 3 year deal. they were trying to get a bargain. Maclin is the one who stood his ground on a 1 year/prove it contract.

i hope they dont use a 1st round pick on a receivers, even without jackson the strength of the Eagles is offense. Defense is where the focus should be.

Good point. If Maclin wasn't progressing well the Eagles would know. And he, unlike other players, knows how to come back from this injury. I'm still worried, lol.

I think they need to draft the best player available with their first pick. But that's how I always feel.

Schedules are out. Thanksgiving game this year is pretty sweet, and thankfully we don't have to play the Seahawks in Seattle.

The Jaguars have the 4th easiest schedule based off of the 2013 strength of schedule. Let's see if they can squeeze out more than 4 wins this year.
