My wife's '05 Mustang is "firestorm" red and looks as good today as it did on the showroom floor with no real maintenance and its parked outside during most daylight hours.

I guess I'll see since mine is Firestorm, but I wouldn't worry about it.

My '85 MR2 did fade in the Florida sun but that was before clearcoat days. Lots of oxidation.

Ya I guess it's hit and miss, and depends on the paint quality. My buddies E46 was red and looked great till he sold it this year. I've seen red on a lot of GM cars fade (like sunfires).

so it sounds like this car will probably be competing in CS? I think that's what a lot of people were expecting.

Good post!

I guess it wasn't good enough for you when I posted that as post # 11 in this thread?

A bunch of us were out there trying to time the runs manually and we were all in the same ball park.

The fastest SK1 B Stock S2k ran an 88.3ish. We were clocking the FR-S at high 88s. Impressive to say the least.

The S2k had oversized super sticky RS3s, dialed in alignment and a fat front sway bar. The FR-S has its stock skinny tires, and hasn't had its suspension dynamically tuned yet!

Of course the runs were at different times of the day and our hands aren't as accurate as timing lights so keep that in mind.

Thanks for posting this. I was hoping someone was timing these and would post this. Thanks again.

But I wonder how much of a difference the driver makes. Wasn't the FRS driver pretty good? What if the SK2 driver was shit? That might be the difference right?

Any idea if the S2K driver let the FRS driver do a lap in his car? The difference would give us a good idea on how to offset the times.

I completely agree, too many variables to be an end all be all comparison.

However, the S2K driver was fastest in his class, so I doubt he was complete crap.

If this hits C-stock class and competes well, that will be your performance-bargain right there.

The other cars in this category - original MSRP/inflation-adjusted MSRP:
Mazda Mazdaspeed Miata (2005) - $25780/$30052
RX-7 Turbo (1991) - $27100/$45298
RX-8 (2012) - $26795
Nissan 370Z (2012) - $31910

Not too shabby

Peters is one of our autox champs in our club, although he spends a lot of time in Cali. Frankly, he is an amazing driver who has driven a wide variety of cars. He is one of those who can run top times in any car he drives. In my first season autoxing some four years ago, he got a special award for having top pax in every event in our series. And we generally have several multiple winning national autox champs in our midst, so competition is tough.

I think he was one of autox triple crown champs for 2010: won a divisional, a national tour, and the nationals.

Many of the locals want Brian do drive our cars when doing set ups because he really understands handling.

To be fair, the car to have in C-Stock is actually the Miata...
