would a supercharger produce less under hood heat than a turbo as this is a big concern for me? |

turbo placement has very little if anything to do with overheating issues. cooling system components and fan configuration are both far more important. if you don't want overheating issues, upgrade all of the stock components, add an oil cooler, and keep at least one stock fan. i'm not suggesting that the turbo location doesn't matter *at all*, just that it matter far less than those other factors.

My main reason purchasing the PTuning kit was the turbo placement. Since it is a low mount less heat is created under hood. And I can tell you from experience because I drove 26hours straight nonstop with the ptuning kit from ptuning virginia to back home in texas. No heating issues during the whole trip

You're gonna need crazy cooling to track or race FI with this car. CRAZY cooling!

If vented hoods are not allowed in the racing series he is in (which seems weird to me), then there are plenty of other methods of venting the hot air in the engine compartment.

This would be one of those ways to help vent the heat under the hood.

actually i beleive most racing series don't allow a vented hood, the cars need to look like a car from the factory. I don't even remember seeing a serie in which they were allowed, grand-am, continental tire, etc, none can add aero type of mod other than a front splitter and a rear wing (sometimes, not in the lower class)

yeah that's right, a turbo would produce more power under the curve which isn't taken into account. I guess ptunning would be the best bet but damn it's expensive. |
