I very much like RWD, fun-to-drive cars. This wouldn't have been my first. But as a daily driver, it needs a little bit more to win me over.

One way would be practicality. For example, my current car has four doors however it doesn't have a hatch which is seriously annoying. I used to drive a Celica hatch, and it was amazing what you could put in there.

Another way to win me over is a nice interior since that where I'll be spending much of my time. I'm not expecting the world in a Scion, but I was hoping for consistent design (FR-S looks a bit jumbled on the inside) and soft touch materials. Something like a 6th gen Celica.

Now, because I have so much nostalgia for Toyota, I could have even overlooked the messy interior and the utter lack of practicality, but then it at least has to be cheap to buy and/or run. I rarely get on the highway, so city MPG matters most to me. $25K and 22 MPG city. That's just not good enough for me.

Obviously for others it may be just right. But honestly, at those specs, I'd rather have whatever new Miata is going to come out, although I'm not going to get one of those either. For the same price, it's just as sporty, impractical, has a nicer interior, and you at least get a convertible out of it.

Oh well. I applaud Toyota for making a car like this. I hope they sell a whole bunch of them. Maybe the next generation of the car will hit the right spot for me. I really wanted to like it.

I guess Pure Pricing will only go so far but if the demand is not there, dealers will have to do something or take a "loss" (maybe just break even?) in order to get rid of the inventory. But probably not the case for the FRS.
I think you may be misunderstanding Pure Pricing. My understanding is that all Pure Pricing means is that at a single dealership, everybody pays the posted/advertised price. That doesn't mean its MSRP (it can be above or below). So in this case, anyone can buy the car for $2K off, you don't have to negotiate for it. It could just as easily by $2K over the price and still be Pure Price. There is nothing in Pure Pricing that says it needs to be MSRP, or that it has to match Scion's corporate website.

Here's the official word from the Scion website, with my bolding:

Pure Price - a Definition

Pure Price means that the price you see posted – in an ad, on the dealer's website, or on a menu display board in the dealership – is the price you will pay. This includes vehicles, accessories, and even finance and insurance products. All our prices are clearly posted.

Wow! So after reading all those "amazing" posts, has anything been set in concrete?? Or am I just being too hopeful/too early? :|

Not sure I understand your question. The price? Yes the price was officially released yesterday and is posted on SCION.COM.

What you are looking for doesn't sound like any car I know of currently

I'm not really sure what people were expecting with price. It came it right about where i was thinking it would (not that I wasn't hoping for lower ) and there isn't much out there that is comparable at the price. At least, most things people mention like miata, mustang, camaro, and gc, they are more (marginally in som cases) expensive and if I were buying one, I'd still want to add the performance packages or get the performance trim which just prices it up even more. The FR-S is the performance package. It is meant to be a performance car and they didn't make very many compromises otherwise. If you want a car that can do everything and haul around a bunch of cargo and then get you 30 mpg around the city, then there are probably other cars out there better suited and this was never really meant to be that car. Maybe a super low price tag could have gotten a few people to make a few compromises here and there, but if they wanted a steal on a niche car, they were kidding themselves. I'm just upset I didn't start saving sooner for this car because now I'll be waiting just so I can actually go buy it.

Well if the car had ended up excelling in other areas I was willing to look past the fact that it wasn't a hatch. But it hasn't. LOL

Not the best review imo. Editing sucked. Didn't have much to say worthwhile about the car. Crappy camera angles. Fail.

True, although what he is saying is exactly what attracted me to this car. That is the exact experience I want. I'm not looking for a dragster or a track car, I'm looking for everyday, smile on my face, within the legal limits fun.

How he shows the car is how 99% of the fleet will spend 99.9% of their time.
