Either sell your bike or pay it off. Don't put yourself in financial obligations if you can't handle it. Being 24 years old I was young and dumb too I mean I'm not that far from your age but I definitely learned from past experience. You gotta think about assets and liabilities. If I had a bike I'd have a truck or some sort of daily beater. The bike is a toy let's be real here it's not very practical and it does carry a ***** magnet. Be practical pay off the bike. Save bro, for a down payment cause I was saving up for a Supra that car was my unicorn, but being practical there was hell no way I was paying 20k for a 18 year old car then a better car came out.
And that's all there is to it Guns and Butter Baby! |

Yeah, I realized this once it was too late. I got the bike when I was just out of high school. I had this idea that I could manage with just two wheels. Now it's biting me in the ass. Don't get me wrong, I love every minute of riding, and I would do it again, but I would definitely get a used one, in cash, off of craigslists. Financing a new bike is not the business, unless you have money to blow. We learn from our mistakes.

Read the whole conversation before you attack. I was all for financing a car, just not a toy. I'm done arguing with you on this. You and I simply don't see eye to eye. Not worth fighting with you on this every time. I get it. Make your post and go on with our day Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

That's the problem. You think it's a toy. Certainly you could treat it as one. But for me and thousands of other people who buy this car, it's not a toy. It's a very practical daily driver that doesn't cost a whole lot and gets good gas mileage. Just because it comes in a fun package doesn't make it a frivolous extravagance.

Ehhhh...I would wait.
Insurance (with your record) will not only be high, but payments would be high as well. And if that doesn't eat up your entire $600-650, it would be pretty close. If any emergency comes up (dishwasher breaks, stuff like that) you would pretty much be SOL. |

Not a ridiculous statement. I know way too many people with negative equity on their motorcycles because of it. And car financing is typically always more reasonable than powersports.
I may have made an unfair assumption about the OP and his financial situation since I don't know the exact details. |

I'm still paying for my bike too and money is a bit tight for me as well. I needed a new car however and wasn't about to get a car I wouldn't be satisfied with. I usually only have 450 to play around with after I put a little money away for savings and pay all my bills plus food for me (the car and bike too lol). I debate selling the bike quite a lot here and there, but I'm just going to see how it turns out for now. So, I mean I've been doing this for 4 months now just fine, but would be nice to have a bit more to play around with. Definitely gotta have an emergency fund.

Worst case scenario if you really need a car, a used Miata is not a bad deal either and a lot cheaper.

I decided against it because it had a few problems to begin with, and also what NissanNinja said about not settling for a car you don't really want. I'd rather wait and get an FR-S, since its the only car I'll be satisfied with. Plus I'm tired of "hand-me-downs".

I am a car/motorcycle fanatic. I've wasted tens of thousands of dollars on cars and motorcycles.
That said, I always made sure I factored everything in my budget before buying. I'm 42 and I've never been on a real vacation. I don't smoke. I don't gamble. I don't drink. I don't do drugs. I don't attend many concerts or sporting events. My wife and I don't buy each other Christmas gifts, birthday presents, anniversary gifts, etc. I pretty much enjoy my toys. I'd rather have a fun everyday life than have to sacrifice daily only to enjoy one or two weeks a year, but that's the choice I made and it works for me. I see lots of people say, "Don't waste your money on a car", "Don't finance things that depreciate", etc. What those folks fail to realize is that there is more to it than that. Sometimes you have to invest in your own happiness. Life makes you no promises, and you have no guarantee on tomorrow. I never advocate someone being financially reckless, and with most things in life, there are sacrifices to be made. I have chosen to give up a lot of things other people enjoy in order to have the car and motorcycle I want. Some people think I'm stupid, but I see someone bragging about how wonderful their vacation of sitting on their butt at the beach was and I think that's silly. I hate the beach. I'd rather do a track day than spend the day sweaty with sand stuck to me. |

This! I also live in the same respect. I barely go out to bars, concerts, parties and whatnot. I actually enjoy my time at home, or out on the streets, whether it be going for a ride up the mountains, or just heading to the store and back. I understand that I need to factor everything in before making a big financial decision like this one, but some of those factors that most people think about don't really pertain to me. I don't need spending cash to go out every weekend. And if I do go out, I usually stick to things that don't cost much or anything at all. But that's just me I guess.
