You would be in a spot of bother if you didn't have rear control arms.

I'm not sure what figure is decent for tire wear, at least when it comes to camber.

ah, as soon as I ask, I find out there are rear camber bushings. This is new to me. Apparently people combine them with adjustable rear control arms too?
Required? It depends. How much camber is too much for you? I ran -2.4 and -2.7 and had no tire wear issues although I had to change alignment up front to be more agressive....

That was lowered about 1.5". If you go with a more moderate lowering/higher ride height and end up anywhere from -1 to -2 I personally wouldn't worry about it. On the Eibachs at the height they were at I was -2.2 up front and -1.1/-1.3 in back.

Crap speaking of the Eibachs I really need to return those R2s to be rebuilt lol

Some people have the rebuilt ones still I think. Not sure. Mine weren't bad just bad valving. They made noise finally but it took a long time.

How typical is it for the rear camber to come lop sided from the factory? Looks like I got about 1/2 a degree more camber on the right side vs the driver side. And what are the drawbacks of running lopsided camber?

Man I really miss the increased camber from lowering springs since I've reverted back to stock springs...

Out of curiosity, why did you revert to stock springs?

Because @CSG Mike... Lol j/k

They flipped the rules on me this season. So I had to change my setup to fit the new rules.

Ah, class rules. If I remember correctly, scca stock class says stock springs, but any shocks you want, right? What would happen if you took a shock that was valved for 7k+ springs and ran it with the stock springs? I would think that at that point the springs would just be along for the ride and the shocks would be doing all the work.

I know you were talking about the 86 cup, it was just a random thought I had.

They actually have them. MCS dampers. They sell a kit to put them at stock height and use stock springs and top hat. Legal for CS. You can even bump up the nitrogen pressure.

See? I knew it was a good idea. It's not my fault someone else had the idea first.

@Racecomp Engineering @CSG Mike
What is your opinion on coilover springs? Swift, Hyperco, Eibach? I've read Swifts have the most travel and are lightest (and somehow ride better), Hypercos are very accurate, and Eibachs can vary. Eibachs seem cheapest by far. I believe the KW springs are Eibach and I noticed they settled a bit for a week after installation, where the Hypercos and Swifts I ran have not.

Any input from real-world experiences?

Swift and Hyperco on about the same level as the two best available. Consistent and light.

Eibach are good too. A very very small step down. KW springs are not made by Eibach but are similar in performance. Great springs that I would be happy with on my car.

KW used to have 2 lines of springs....regular and "race" which were lighter and used fewer coils. We always used the "race" line on our RCE tarmac coilovers. I don't know what KW uses currently on their V3s...I thought everything switched over but I'm not sure.

I'm not in the camp that thinks you must replace all springs with Swift no matter what. However, springs are one of the places that the low end coilovers sacrifice. Those springs are very inconsistent. A lot of the people that swap to Swifts on BCs or whatever do see a big benefit, but they'd see a similar benefit with Hyperco, Eibach, or KW springs.

I was doing some research on the forums to see if there is a way to gain more negative camber to use my R compounds (something close to -2 with stock suspension) but it looks pretty hard to do that ( I'd much rather avoid the camber plates and LCAs ) and it looks the coilovers like Fortune Auto 500 with swift springs might be a good entry level option so that I can use with my tires and wheels. Since these cars don't have the double wishbone suspensions (like my previous Vettes and Miata) holding the camber during the cornering might be a bit harder, I think.

Has any of you tried these coilovers? FYI, I have Enkei RPF1 17x9 +35mm wheels with Nitto NT01 tires (235/40/17).
What kind of camber can I expect with a 1.5" drop ( assuming that's the ideal drop without hurting the geometry of the car)?
What would be an ideal spring rate for front and the rear? 8k for both front and rear or different setup for front and rear? Why should or shouldn't I consider different rates for front and rear?

Thanks in advance

having a really really really hard time finding any technical discussions on moving the strut tower mount of a macpherson design outboard (in order to, along with longer a-arms, increase the track width while maintaining as upright strut angle as possible).

if you have any sources please drop me a line,
