Actually, quick update - I had a bout of sudden unintended acceleration and sudden unintended drift yesterday - I was approaching a corner and blipped the throttle for a downshift, when my Cusco gas pedal got stuck under the tab the weathertechs have near the gas pedal!
Luckily I had kept it in sport mode, so it was easy to recover, and also had the presence of mind to slap it into neutral and then figure out what happened (hooked it out with my foot and went on my merry way). Still, if not for the fact that the turn had no incoming traffic and no pedestrians, that could've turned out very ugly. I strongly suggest cutting off 8-10mm from that tab that sticks out where the gas pedal is. |

Yea,
When you initially look at it, it seems like there's plenty of clearance, depending on the install you may or may not have enough clearance, either way, it's way too close, Should definitely cut some off. It's just a stupid mat anyways, the rubber is super soft, can do a fairly clean cut. Thankfully you didn't get hurt man. |

And the bit that you would have to cut off won't be missed (do it with a decent knife, and you can match the curve of the mat itself so that it looks clean). Incidentally, I was one of those who looked at the pics, looked at my footwell, and promptly determined that this was a one-off issue that wouldn't happen in my car. And I kept thinking that way, until it actually did. |

Not the fault of Toyota or Weathertech or Cusco - it's just that these 2 very good products happen to not work well together.
Aaaaand I guess this is where the Subaru guys would disavow the gas pedal as the only thing Toyota on the whole car.... |

Same no way they could interfere really. Possible ops peddle was bolted snugly lower on original peddle, at least that's all I can make of it. It's easy to snug it down to stock peddle at a higher height, I'd do that before cutting the mat. Something for folks to consider anyhow after they examine theirs.

i just bought both product and this is useful information. also good to know the mat is easily trim able. gonna trim the top piece to get more clearance and cut off the part that cover the dead pedal. |
