WARNING: Weathertech Mats w/ Cusco Pedal

Hello All,

This would likely seem obvious to most, but for anyone who has the Cusco pedal already installed, if you're thinking about putting in the Weathertech Mats... PLEASE be mindful of the fact you're pedal will get caught on the upper right corner of the mat. I learned this the hard way today. I had the pedal put in a while back, but the mats I just put in a couple days ago, quickly, didn't even cross my mind that I should check the clearance. Today I was attempting to overtake another driver and put the pedal down, decided to shift up, seemingly eased off the gas and soon as I hit the clutch I started redlining, I have a Twin Screw SC, and as much as I love that SC whine... damn was it ever unpleasant... didn't even realize what was happening for a few seconds. Slammed the breaks on pulled over to the side and turn off the car.

Anyways, that could have been a lot worse then it was had I been in more condensed traffic. Again, I realize this will be obvious to most, but if this even helps one person it's worth it.

Thanks. Could you please post some pics where it got caught?

That was scary.

These kind of posts are important to all the members to know... EVEN IF YOU ALREADY KNOW.

I was just about to buy the pedal before seeing this, thank you!

Just don't get that post wrong. It's not the pedal is bad... or floor mat is bad. Just combination of those you are bad

I know :P I'm thankful to OP because I also have the WT mats (not willing to part with) and w/o this post I may have ended up at some point in the same situation but with a much nastier result

Hrmmmmmmm thanks for this. I have the weathertechs and the cusco pedal installed but I guess I installed the pedal after switching back to my stock mats. This is definitely something I'll look into when I try to put the weathertechs back in this winter. Is there any way to mod the weathertech so this issue doesn't occur?

Sorry, I just went outside to see if I could get a pic, too dark, flash isn't really giving a clear shot. Will do it tomorrow when I get back from work, or maybe if I get up early enough lol.

Nothing against the products, they are both great, just sadly don't work together. I'm sure you can cut some off the weather tech mat and it would be fine.

Glad to see this thread served a purpose :)

Thanks for the notification mate. I'll have to let one of my buddies know about this. I have the SRP pedal installed with this anti-weather mat and don't have issues.

Hmm, maybe my pedal was installed differently? don't think so though, the bracket doesn't really give options, did notice mine has a bit of give at the corners... don't see why that would make a difference though because its definitely not sliding down.. I'm going to check when I get home.. I'll make a video, more useful.

Wow, glad you posted this. I just installed my Cusco pedal and have had Weathertechs in the car for a while. I thought that I had checked for interference when I did the pedal install. Better check it out again. I rarely floor the car, but having it stick would definitely suck...

How did you install yours? I couldn't do it on car I had to take the throttle off and bring it inside and got it nice and tight. Did you use the black mat it came with?
