Looks like Toyota "shot themselves in the foot" by not offering the GT-86 state side and pricing the Scion if it were a Toyota.

Scion being looked at and marketed as a lower brand needing CPR, Toyota wanted to propel Scion sales too much. But the price is way too close to the BRZ, that most will opt of the BRZ because of options- HID, limited trim etc.

I would've bought the 86 over the BRZ but not the FRS over the BRZ. I'm probably not alone. ( 86>BRZ>FRS )

They both have the telescoping steering wheel. The only difference is HIDS and Nav. The BRZ has the uglier front bumper and uglier side vent fender.

But hey if it's the same price. BRZ baby! There are still preorders available for the BRZ premium. Now if the limited is only $1500 more than the premium (your only talking DualZone AC with push start, heated leather alcantara seats, a rear wing)...hmmm

Just curious, why would you think the limited would be 25k? Was there some source, or were you just being extremely optimistic? Pretty much every source put the BRZ at 25k, which meant the limited would be at LEAST 26.5k, most likely 27k.

I'm asking because, in the FR-S thread, everyone is crapping their pants about the price and saying they expected 22k, when... no one ever said 22k. All the rumors were always 23-24k.

Which will probbly have around 260 hp and 200, conservative of course.

Subaru= Sti Turbo
Scion= Trd Supercharger
That's a good idea...Get a BRZ or FR-S now (this summer) keep it stock, and then get the sti BRZ in 2014. That will probably be a 2015 model.

I just want your opinion to those who read.

Would you say... 23k would've been the ideal "affordable" amount for the FRS?

I just want a yes or no.

you should put it in the FR-S forum. I think the question is already posed, even.

I'm wondering if the TRD S/C is normally a bolt-on though. No accompanying suspension/brake mods, unlike STI's.

Still can't decide.

Story is backwards, i think it was Toyota that had to convince Subaru brass of the viability of the project.

I mean th FT86 CAME from Toyota in after all......
Im pretty sure Subaru had nothing to do with it until after the first FT86 concept.

I'm asking here because because the price of the FRS is apparently having a go at everyone who is speculating about BRZ prices.

So now back to my question.

Is it a yes or no Mr. Tainen?

Toyota went to Subaru.
Subaru said no.
Project died 100%.
2? Years later Subaru went back to Toyota with "let's do this".

Well, I had a friend that pre-ordered a Saturn Sky. As soon as the GXP came out, he traded it in for it. I think the Saturn Sky is stupid car and I was able to drive it, but the point is, I'm not going to make that mistake.

I'm waiting to make damn sure they don't come out with an STi before buying my BRZ. I don't care how long the line is to get one. I'm getting the car I want.

Is it a yes or no Mr. Tainen?

Yes.

It feels like a baited question though. Of course people are always going to want something a little cheaper... ? That doesn't mean it's viable at the lower cost.

No...

23k was a fantasy, wishful thinking, a dream, a hope, a bad joke, alternate reality, laughable, naive....infinity.

25K is realistic in today's market and affordable for their target market, which is maybe not what we think it is anymore...why...because that 28-38 year old has more disposable income...and maybe that's the market they want.
