That right rear wheel that looks sunk in the well was actually dangling several inches below the well when my car stopped in the foliage, so there's definitely something wrong there.

If they don't total it, make sure you get the diminished value money. Your car is a perfect example for that- nearly a brand new car that will be worth less, because of the accident repair.

Thats a bummer the side airbags didn't deploy. Looks like you took a hard hit on the side. Replacing the airbags, and interior trim, is actually more expensive than you'd expect. My guess is the damage is worth around $15k. Possibly more is there is damage to the drivetrain and suspension components. I'm not convinced it's totaled based only on the damaged seen in the pictures. But I hope you can get a new one.

He had damage to his right front fender, bumper, and axel, but that was it. His car is a 2003 model.

Just got a call from Subaru. They haven't been able to put it on a lift yet because for whatever reason the car won't power on (possibly a dead battery), but from visual damage only, the estimate is $10,285. Now it's a matter of seeing how much is messed up underneath.

Got the underneath looked at, and the number being submitted to insurance by the body shop is $20,862. Yeesh. I don't know how much my car has depreciated but that's putting it close to the 75% threshold I would guess. Mine's an automatic so it's a bit more expensive. Now I have to wait till Tuesday at the latest for my insurance to call me and tell me their verdict.

Well I priced out a Silver BRZ limited (auto) on the Subaru website, looks like an MRSP of $29,490.
If you paid 29,490 and say you lost only 10% (I would assume that percentage is higher) of its value when you drove it off the lot, the current value would be around 26,541, and 75% of that is 19905.75. My guess it the insurance will try to fix it because it so close, but hopefully they realize that the quote is just an estimate. Hopefully you can get a new one, but the main thing is that you're okay

Yep get out your check book. you gonna need to buy a new car.
hopefully what they give you will pay off the loan and get you started on the new one. I would go after the 350z owner for the difference in what is owed on the loan on the old car VS the new loan and some "you piece of shit" money for your troubles. seriously, you should do that. people don't learn unless it really costs them |
