I guess I was saying many people expect the BRZ to be $1000-1300 more than the FRS. What happens if it is really just $300-500 difference. Doesn't that change things?

Took me bout 40 pages before biting on this thread. I said before that if the FRS hits over $25,000 I'd have a hard time justifying the cost for the amount of car you get. Scion is sure cutting it close. It's almost like a slap in the face to offer it at $24,200 and have butt right up to $25,000 after DPH is put in. After tax and licensing fees, the car is in the $27,100 range. I dunno man...a basic rwd coupe for $27,000 + only driveable part time of the year? I'm not quite ready to pull my deposit yet. Good luck BRZ owners.

Your implicit attempt to compare it to a GC is similar to arguing that a Boxster competes/compares with an Audi S4. Yes the latter is a good handling and lively sports sedan but it is NOT a sports car, and the two feel very different when behind the wheel and address largely differing needs/desires.

A true sports car with GC-class acceleration is just not viable at this price point, you'd need to go north of $30k to find one (370Z), and even that car probably does not handle as well as the ToSubie.

indeed, they've been saying all along it wasn't meant to go round the ring in record time, nor is it meant to shatter 0-60 times, it's not meant to be the fastest car in the world, it's meant to be BLANCED.

I'll probably auto X mine here or there, but anything outside of TRD upgrades I'll be keeping it stock for the most part, because I want to have fun driving my car.

It would be interesting if that was the case, considering the standard options. Both cars cost the same amount to make, the come off the same line. They will be similarly priced except for options to differentiate them.

On the same token, I wonder how much the invoice cost of a BRZ is, because that will most likely be the same invoice cost of the FR-S.

Dude, I drive a 1990 Miata in snow so deep in drowns the hood of the car. My Miata is RWD, 2100 pounds, No LSD, No anti-lock, no airbags and it's the most fun thing to drive in the snow ever. With snow tires, the FR-S will be a stellar snow-car. Powerslides without paying for new rubber = epic!

It would make me disgruntle, but not to the point of buying the BRZ over the FR-S. I don't like the BRZ that much.

Been there, done that. I had to drive my old NB and got caught in a snowstorm. It's not fun AT ALL!!! Having the LSD was a big fail in the snow. Light tap on the gas pedal and my Miata was sideways instantly and sideways in the opposite direction sideways from what you expect. I tell ya, the snow covered freeway exit ramp was the scariest exit ramp I've ever been on.

No way HID's, Nav and other standard options are going to only set you back $300-500. Especially not from the stealership.

Winter tires? It's actually illegal to drive your car here without them. Your REQUIRED by law to have them on your vehicle in Quebec, whether you drive a hummer or Mini. Michelin X-ICE2 Tires are terrific.

right?
Go for the used 370z. IMO it's more reliable than the others and has better maintenance costs. It's not really comparable to the FR-S, but based on just the cost, you can get the 370z. It's heavier and less gas efficient, but still looks gangsta
