It Is ESSENTIAL that you order/purchase the correct model camera though that is meant to be mounted "upside down" or the pic on your screen will be flipped upside down.
Can't this be done with the duo as well? It seems you would be able to mount it into the license plate hole and just use the image reverse wire (http://rydeenmobile.com/downloads/DUO_Cam.pdf).

I'm mainly wondering if it's easy to mount on a BRZ/FRS using the license plate hole, without having to drill.

I dont have a duo so i cant answer, but mounting in the liscence plate hole is easy and requires no drilling.

This is what I was thinking of doing. If someone has done this I would like to see pics of the image it shows on the screen.

The instructions for the Duo certainly show that as an option. To be honest, it looks to me like it would be too big for my taste in the license plate hole. But drilling the trim piece where it is meant to be mounted is really no big deal. Did mine without any problem.

BTW, I posted some comments in this thread on my installation tips/findings:

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...8&postcount=56

As far as my thoughts on the Rydeen Duo:
* Installation is pretty easy.
* Looks OEM under the trunk trim piece.
* Image quality is good enough, but not as good as the image quality on my wife's OEM Honda Odyssey backup camera. And the Odyssey backup camera has a wider angle. And the Duo points more to the ground than the Odyssey's (probably due to how low the car sits). Again, adequate for parking, but I don't get quite the visibility I get in the Odyssey (my only other experience with a backup camera).

At the $90 bucks I paid on Amazon to get this, I'm happy with the purchase. However, if I hear later that a new camera has come out that would be just as easy to install, looks just as good or better, and has better image quality and a wider angle, I might consider swapping it out.

I installed it using the license plate mount this weekend but I'm going to move it to the trunk lid soon. I don't mind the way it looks but if I ever need to remove/change the plate I want it to be simple. Having to pull the cable back through isn't worth it. :-)

How did the final product look, and was the image decent? I wonder if it was angled downward too much?

I would agree with zinzan's assessment above. The FOV is smaller than the stock on on my 4runner but it will probably be just fine. It will be interesting to compare the angle when I move it.

tip/suggestion

If you ever have the licence plate lights thing detached, consider adding silicone rubber sealant all around the perimeter to prevent dirt/grit accumulation. I was finding that dirt was coming down from there sometime later after washing the car.
To prevent the silicone sticking to the paint I lightly smeared soft paraffin/Vaseline. I also masked with Sellotape.
Did it a year ago and still works a treat.
I also siliconed in some colorless clear plastic across where the lights shine out to prevent dust getting up onto the bulbs and water getting into the wiring. I was surprised the light shone through open holes on our car but believe some cars have covers. Siliconed around the key hole too.

I too would like to install a front camera as well as rear and using the existing head unit.

Ideally I'd like to be able to have both cameras display at the same time by split-screen.
Failing that some way of switching between cameras and turning them both off. For simplicity of wiring, I do not want the rear to come on when reverse is selected and am thinking of wireless for the rear. I know that wireless for the front camera is a poor choice for interference reasons.

Can anyone advise.

(Wouldn't it be really cool to also have cameras under the door mirrors and four simultaneous images on the screen or really cool to have yet another one looking skywards for whatever).

alright, i've ordered myself the Rydeen Duo (ZH07-150B) and had one question regarding other required parts for installation...

do i need the SVXdc 16-pin harness? or will i be able to just take the camera itself to a shop to get it installed? thanks.

You can technically install it without the harness but the harness makes it easier/more clean
