In Ontario, the only ethanol free fuel is Shell 91 V Power. Every single Esso station I've been to has a label that says it can contain up to 10% ethanol. I've run petro 94 a number of times, I don't feel any appreciable difference in performance but I do get worse mileage on any fuel with ethanol compared to shell 91. As for ethanol and raising octane... ethanol has an octane rating of ~99, so if you took 91 octane gas with no ethanol and mixed in 10% pure ethanol you would end up with 91.8 octane, to get 94 octane form 91 by mixing it with ethanol would require a mix of about 40% ethanol. I've had crickets on shell gas, and no crickets on 94, it seems to be more random than directly related to ethanol content of the fuel.

I also did not realize that gas was so different across Canada. When I said 91 is the highest, I meant the highest you will find ethanol free across Canada is 91. Which is still true and it may also be Shell only in some provinces. |

I wish I could use 94 as in my opinion I find that I get better gas mileage but that may be cause I've used petro canada 94 on summer and during winter we get worst gas mileage

FWIW, I was stuck coming down from Blue Mountain the other week and had to fill up at an Esso. Put 93 E10 in and the fuel pump sounded disgusting. Exactly like it did when I picked up my car from Toyota that put in Petro Canada Ultra 94.
After that 1/4 tank went, I filled her up all the way with Shell V-Power 91 E0, and had the smooth idle again. |

All you goofs arguing about this have to realize this stuff can vary province by province.
I'm in NS and use Vpower91. It is the only grade at my local shell that says it has no ethanol. I would love to try Esso 94 in the Baru though. There was an Esso in Guelph when I lived there years ago that had 94 FWIW. |

Which Esso is that? I grew up in Guelph.

Wish I could remember. This was years back when I had a Lincoln Mark VIII. Hell of a car!
I'll take a peek at some on google maps and see what I can come up with. |

He also said that some stations have 93 E10, but the pumps themselves only have a button for 91. Thus, you may be getting 93 for the price of 91 (YMMV). |
