3M Clear Film - Tear

Hullo all,

Anyone know if there's any sort of warranty on the film itself?

My car's had it since new, but now has a small gash torn out of the film (<1000mi). It did it's job an prevented a paint chip, but the edges of the gash are dirty and it looks kinda crappy.

Do you think it is something I just need to live with, or should I talk to my dealer?

Thanks for your thoughts & advice. :-)

3m's manufacture warranty won't cover that. So you'll either have to live with it or pay a local installer to remove and replace the piece.
Avoid the dealer at all costs haha

You had the dealer install it?
Don't pros tuck the corners so the corners aren't infected?

You can wrap the edges of hoods all the way around the hood, wrap fender pieces into the engine bay, wrap fenders into the door jams and wheel wells. As far as bumpers go it all depends on wether or not you want to remove like the headlights and perhaps the fog lamp plastic housing to wrap into there. But for the most part the film should cover to all the edges of the surface being covered. Good installers like me will wrap as many edges as we can.

Thanks. I ended up finding the 3M warranty card in my pile o'papers from the dealer and you're correct. It is small, so I'll live with it. I'm just glad there isn't a paint chip there too.

It was beautifully installed and all possible edges are wrapped. Very happy with the install job and the product. Not happy with rock chucking cars. ;-)
