That's not a very sound solution either.
Tires are still the priority over wheels. Even with replica wheels, breakage is not a common occurrence. Use some sense and avoid potholes. Obviously, in an ideal world he'd mount those PSSs on forged wheels, but if he can't afford it, it's still better to spend more on the tires that will net him better grip, better treadwear, and better safety in the wet. Difference between a set of high end tires and a set of junk will only be a few hundred dollars, whereas difference between good wheels and reps may be $1-2K. The appreciable difference in performance per dollar difference will be much greater with the tires.

i've decided not to get the XXR. i went with Enkei instead. However, i'm still deciding on tires. Which of the following is descent quality and have low noise?

Falken Azenis PT722 92W
Kumho Ecsta 4X KU22 92W
Hankook Ventus V2 Concept2 92W XL
Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport 92W XL
General G-Max AS03 92W XL

Not sure if this will help but PMC Tire has ratings on all the tires that they carry and that is how I narrowed down the tires that are on my short list.

I usually go with what the store recommends me as the best one that I can afford for my set of criteria, then I run them for a bit and go read the reviews off tirerack and they are generally spot on. Have some characteristics you are looking for in mind and research from there, or ask the dude at the tire shop cuz they get real world customer feedback on the diff. tires they sell.

I took a quick look at the pictures of the different tires listed, I'm really liking the tread pattern off the Bridgestones. The others look very all season-ish (nothing wrong with that btw I'm running all-seasons myself lol).

Honestly, judging a tire by the look of the tread pattern is not a great idea. It's all about how it works in conjunction with the handling characteristics of the vehicle. In my opinion, the Michelin Pilot Super Sports have one of the least aggressive tread patterns and while they may be asymmetrical, they're not directional so they can be rotated properly for extra life and better tire wear. They also handle very well, better than some tires with super agrressive looking tread patterns.

Dude I'm running Pilot Sport A/S 3 which is based on the design of the Pilot Super Sport (the features you typed there). All you guys keep pushing him to buy PSS when I don't think he can afford PSS with his budget. I told him to read reviews off tirerack and ask the shop for feedback. I wasn't judging the tires he listed purely by looks I was just making a comment on the looks of the tread pattern when I have no experience with those tires, nor do I have time to read all of the reviews for him.

The OP never outlined all of his criteria when choosing a tire to begin with anyway (he only said good quality and low noise, cost within budget being a factor). I already said for low noise stay away from Goodyear and Dunlop. For example, if he is concerned with tire longevity and it's a daily driver and he doesn't track the car, I would recommend him Pilot Sport A/S 3 instead of Pilot Super Sport because of longer tread life and better lower temperature grip. I'm surprised no Michelin fanboy recommended Pilot Sport Cup yet.

The funniest comment is about how the OP should be buying XXR with PSS instead, so risking the rim that might crack and fail is safer because you have really good grip. ROFL! But what do I know I'm not Suberman.

Nowhere in my last post did I push the PSS.....I was just using them as an example in reference to your tread comments. The only reason I suggested them to begin with is because chances are they will last a lot longer than any off brand "performance" tire (ie. Nankang.....Falken.....) due to their higher treadwear rating and the fact that they can be properly rotated. They will also certainly fit within the good quality low noise criteria. As I mentioned, cheap tires wear terribly and these cars aren't exactly Lexus quiet to begin with so shit tires will just compound the issue.

Honestly, your cracked XXR rim running on PSS is a little extreme. I've personally run PSS on shitty gravity cast chinese wheels without issue. They're not exactly 100 treadwear grade race tires....

Not sure why you're getting so defensive about my post, I merely pointed out some important information regarding tread pattern since a lot of less knowledgeable auto enthusiasts seem to place importance on the way the tread looks. Your post was a little confusing if that's not what you intended to say......
