I think we are experiencing a "purge" of sorts, it's alittle higher than a majority of us have expected but it's not a deal breaker.

so the teens who want to "drift mad yo!" won't find this car as easily accessible as they thought

do what I did when I was a teenager, get a job, work for this if you really want it.

all things in life worth having are worth working for.

Heck no. The scion should be LOW 20's not mid. Ah well w/e, I just spent all my cash on a new bke anyway. By the time I can afford a new car again, there'll be new options on the market

That's exactly how I feel as well. That also applies to those that are butthurt about "exclusivity". To me, it's a bit selfish to go after a car, or anything really, and get mad when others get a good product alongside you.

You are certainly right but high accident / theft rate can drive insurance price high rather quick. I'd rather pay 30K for a car but have lower cost of ownership over the years rather that pay 20K yet have unreasonably high insurace, etc.

I thought the new Imprezas were sticking with the FB engine (albeit with direct injection)? The FA is an entirely different engine. Different block, heads, bore/stroke, pistons, rods, crank, cams, sump, exhaust, intake, injectors... It does have the same mounting points though. But I kind of doubt they'll offer this particular engine in anything else. Regardless, the BRZ/FRS/86 will be around for a long time so they'll get their money's worth.

Ah yeah, something like that! :happy0180:

60 month @ 1.79, a 25K loan is $436. 24K, it reduced to $418 and 23K, it was $401. Most credit unions offer 72 month loans so that's why I didn't count them out.

Which is not something that you can predict on a new car. Good luck. I would rather have a low cost of entry. I am >25 yo so insurance won't affect me. Also don't live in a high crime city with high auto thefts.

definitely marketing beyond a shadow of a doubt.

to answer your q fat: a lot of passion and a lot of thought. pretty simple on the surface but of all what goes into that and looking at the end product there's a lot to be joyful about that it came in at this price point. Toyota/Subaru went to great lengths to get this car "just right", something that you usually don't find so well executed except on cars costing in excess of $20k more. not to mention they left plenty of room for all of us to go out and play and make this car our own. where else are you going to find a RWD compact with more than adequate interior space for most humans, has a light and sufficient powertrain, economical, technologically up to date and attractively designed inside and out? i'm sure you could have easily accomplished that on your own then have thousands of people all over the world itching to get their hands on your idea. right.

coming from someone who works in manufacturing that gets what it takes to develop and manufacture a good it could have been more considering escalating costs for raw materials that won't make anything cheaper looking into the future until alternatives are more readily available and used. so yeh, $24,930 all day. :happy0180:

I actually think 2 - 3 K would not be a deal breaker for teenagers seriously considering to buy this car. Aren't their daddies paying for them anyway and I would imagine such a teen would not dwell on a couple of grands.

I could only hope it's cheaper.

I was hoping to get it for 25k OTD,
Kinda makes me a bit sad

Sure, it has 232 crank horsepower, but go look at a dyno graph. I doubt many people care if the engine is hand built, the motor does not get good gas mileage or make the best power. I do like rotaries, but they have the cons. Comparing rebates on a car after it was released to first year pricing isn't a comparison. Just like comparing used cars to new cars, it's apples to oranges.
