These tires have the worst qualities of summer tires and all seasons combined.

Only thing I can imagine is you live somewhere with very flat straight roads.
You obviously never owned a sports car before.. Or at least one with performance summer times.. It's Common knowledge that cold weather and summer compounds don't mix well.. Anything below 45 with summer tires , lose grip fast.
Been driving vettes for the last 16 years all on Summer performance tires.. So I know a thing or two about grip and showing restraint when conditions warrant.. You bitch about the tires losing traction when it's freezing out.. Duh.. What do you expect.. You're in what industry again?

I work for a Jet Engine Manufacturer and am part of team that is involved with making sure we meet and certify FAA requirements, taking an engine from development to production is what I do. While this is aviation vs automotive I also know multiple people that work for Chrysler, Ford, GM.

You literally have no idea what you're talking about when it comes to product developement, and as I already pointed out, it would NOT be easy to make the FA20T fit in the BRZ/FRS for a plethora of reasons. Toyota/Subaru would need new designs, and that is a major developement that would require multiple different aspects of the process to be re-devloped, not something they're going to do when the car has only been on the market for two years. IF the car had spawned more variants (drop top, 4 door, random bastardized version X) they would be more likely to do so as the extra sales from multiple versions would bring down costs, but as we know, currently Toyota has no plans for that option.

I get why you think it'd be easy since Subaru owns both the Turbo Motor and produces the car but there needs to be a correlation between the process of producing both, and there isn't. The engine wasn't designed to fit in that car, first the engine sits to low to have a bottom mounted turbo and then you can't just "move the exhaust ports to the other side" it doesn't work that way. Could we eventuallly get a turbo/performance version of the car, sure, but the FA20T wont be the motor used.

You may feel your opinion is logical and think its possible but its not based in reality and all you do by continuing to spread misinformation is confuse a consumer base that doesn't have any clue either. So please step back from the keyboard b/c you're just making yourself look really really stupid.

It's a good thing wheels and tires are so easy to change. If someone wants gumball tires on their car, pony up about a couple of grand (or less) and you can have some ultra high performance tires on bigger rims.

If people think this car is slow...then they're not revving it hard enough.

Seriously though - it isn't the quickest to accelerate but when you really wind out the gears and stay in the power band these things go plenty fast. Add in some curves and some driving skill and the twins are a force to be reckoned with.

The thing with these cars is that the speed is in there. You just have to work for it. It's called driving.

Handling is awesome on this car, and as far as speed goes, I would consider it "quick" but certainly not "fast" by any stretch of the imagination.

Those who think this this car is fast must have come from a corolla or camry. Well, shit, those cars are about as fast as us too lol.

This car can be driven fast, but thats not the same as being fast...

I agree with this. I wouldn't exactly call these cars fast (nor would I call an s2000, GTI, MS3, Mini Cooper S, etc. fast), but I'd say it's somewhat quick as long as you keep it in the powerband.

Very roughly for production cars:

17's = molasses
16's = slow
15's = average
14's = quick
13's = fast
12's = very fast
11's = holy hell
10's = ungodly fast

My '93 Miata had 115hp and was fun as hell to hustle down a back road. Yeah, there were faster cars in a straight line, but the point of a real sports car is to be fast by never having to accelerate or slow much. Maintain a constant level speed or "pace" is what makes a sports car fun.

If you are interested in 0-60 times and quarter mile times, then get an old rear wheel drive land yacht, drop in a built and blown big block motor, and put a set of Mickey Thompson DOT drag tires on the back and have fun.

The BRZ/FRS is sort of like marrying the nicest girl you ever met. Yeah, she may never put on a leather suit and spank you with a whip, but she'll always be good to you and you'll enjoy spending your life with her after the new wears off.

Should quit the slander and open your eyes I've worked with aerospace engineers (hell I' a Boilermaker) they tend not to stick around very in the auto industry due to mindsets just like yours . modifying an fat20t isn"t designing a jet engine. A football player generally doesn't pan out in baseball that's all I'm saying. People are installing turbos on their twins every day in the garage for christs sake>

Just like with anything there are always sub-categories in which each set group has so: 2 cars having roughly the same hp (civic si and fr-s) could both be in the same category or a separate catagory depending on how you view the car because stock for stock these two cars come down to the driver.

Slow in traffic and as daily but it's pretty fast on the track. Brakes late and deep.

My only real gripe with the cars is the fact that they are so barebones from the factory at all trim levels. Even the BRZ Limited, which is the one I'm contemplating, lacks basic creature comforts like a freaking armrest (seriously, wtf?) and not even an option for different wheels/tires. On the Scion front it seems like they finally got the right platform for the brand, and now is when they decide to not push the factory/OEM+ customization aspect.

For the ~26-29k price tag, it really does seem a bit expensive. Yes rear wheel drive, yes good suspension geometry, yes they look fantastic. I don't live near the 'twisties', and much of my commute is on an expressway going in a straight line at either 70mph or in bumper to bumper traffic. Is this the most sensible option for someone like me? Nope. Do I still want a BRZ? Absolutely. Just wish they would have given the above more thought.
