I can't wait to see little 1.6L engines with giant ass turbos plus an ESC (or electric motor/generator integrated into the said big ass turbo).
I'm thinking... something like a 4AGE with a GT3071R, then remove the lag.... |

Well crap, I've skimmed through this thread quite a bit recently, but I'd really like to get all the info... however reading 180+ pages. I read all 40 some pages in one sitting for the OFT OFH thread and it was a brutal experience.

All of the relevant info has been compiled by Fenton on the first page of this thread. If you have any questions beyond that info, it is contained in the discussions. But if you have a direct question, don't hesitate to ask.

I'm curious where he has ended up with the TQ300 larger compressor and I've seen some random tidbits here and there about some different battery pack configurations that I didn't see in his posts. I've also seen where someone was mounting their extra packs in the trunk I believe. It's just a lot of little things like that I'm very eager to get caught up on and start my planning, that I'll probably only get by stalking these pages. I have the OpenFlashHeader on order, and after it comes in I'd like to drive it for a bit and most likely order this kit. Has anyone used this kit with the OFH? EDIT: Oh sunuva bitch there is Raven again, always around where I'm looking. |

There has been a lot of interest in the TQ300. It's still in development with no commercial path forward at this time. In order to extract the extra potential of the TQ300, it requires a bit more commitment from the user; such as battery relocation. I know my thoughts go against some others here, but truth be told, the TQ300 wasn't really conceived for the -86 platform. If you have the time to go through the posts, somewhere it is mentioned that the TQ250 was designed for engines up to 250 base horsepower and the TQ300 for engines with 300 base horsepower. Does it flow more air...sure it does...and it is well documented in this thread what the advantages are. But it's not worth waiting for...not when there hasn't been any mention of a release date.
The TQ250 is available now, works as advertised, and doesn't demand much of a commitment as other FI systems or even the TQ300. It truly is plug and play. The TQ250 works well with the OFH as well as Shiv's ECU tune. And it's ready to go right now. Quote:

Right now he is purely focused on the 250. The 250 with dual dump pack should actually provide more power than a 300 on single and will draw less amps. Here in calgary our air is thinner(3500ft) so the 300 does not need as much juice, down at sea level the amperage required is about 10 percent more. All that being said Shiv is going to be on the dyno soon with dual dump pack plus TQ250, that will be the upgrade path for the near future for most users. Rob and shiv have talked, they expect the dual dump TQ250 to make 220whp on 91/93 and probably upwards to 240whp on e85. Rob said next batch of 10 is getting close, he is just waiting on the compressor housings(they were supposed to be here last week). |

I'm guessing that the TQ300 is a ways down the line as well. I think its still possible that the motor in the the TQ250 could be upgraded in the future, to provide more boost than even the current TQ300 set-up. The motor technology is evolving very quickly from what I've read. I think you guys should stop worrying about upgrading to 300, for a good bit of time yet.

240 would most likely be with the OFT header.
We will have to see, Shiv said that 250 with dual dumps was feeling really good(even better than the 300 with single dump). He made 216 with the TQ300 and header with single dump pack. |

I'm still hoping for some crazy numbers with e85. I know it isn't realistic, but 300WHP with e85, dual dumps, and the header would be damn impressive. I think that 255WHP is still really impressive though since that is ~50% more power than stock.

Yes that is probably a ways out. As the tech evolves it will be more feasible to reach these numbers without breaking the bank.
