The prices have been more or less set for awhile. They know what they need to sell them for to make the eventual return off the development of the vehicle.

Thats a fair point, I am assuming that there is an agreement on pricing between the companies, so neither one has an unfair advantage. But I do think that pricing the brz basically the same as the WRX will make it harder to sell to you average american who will say... "what no turbo? no awd? waa?"

Something I've learned from these types of cars; they're not catered for your average American. We all fall into a niche that doesn't quite generate eyebrow-raising figures. I can't remember if it was something I read or a conversation I had from years ago, but the point that came across was that sports cars are THE least profitable and desirable types of vehicles to produce. Dave, I'm sure you can back me up on this with your ITR knowledge.

Exactly. I get the point of this car. I'm willing to pay 30K for this car, but not with that kind of standard features. WRX at 25K at least has better looking wheels and less fake vent.

The dealer doesn't know anything. Subaru hasn't even told dealers what the pricing is yet, but did tell them that Scion and Subaru will release prices publically on the same day. Doesn't sound like that much of a pricing war does it?

I'd agree. Sports cars have always been niche vehicles (and the more hardcore [by that I don't mean more power and bigger brakes] the more niche they become) and sales have never been all that great. The Miata is somewhat of an exception there though.

But it's not. Everything is dealer installed and not packaged from the factory. Scion Pure Pricing is no lower than MSRP and dealer is able to add market adjustment bullcrap.

Phew, I really want a BRZ but if the FR-S was a lot cheaper (like 23,000) it would've been very tempting. At most, the BRZ will be $1700 more than the FR-S (most dealers have been saying $25XXX for a while now), which isn't much at all, especially once you start to negotiate with them.
