Dealer price for the bumper should be just under $300.
That sounds... pretty cheap actually. I'm interested to know how much they'll charge for painting.

Because the integrity of the bumper is damaged. It won't be as safe (as in flexing) as a re manufactured.

The hood killed me. Would have been about $900 for the bumper, but because the hood crumpled it'll end up being an estimated $2800 after its all said and done. Also checked with insurance.. Could pay $1000 deductible but rates would go up. They doubt that a dog could cause that much damage. Breakdown Below:

Bumper: $360
Hood: $630
Seals, Grille, Absorber and Paint parts tax: $760
Labor: $1020

Almost 3k to get her back to stock condition. A damn shame, just paid my first payment.

Rates don't go up after a comprehensive claim.

Since you know you hit a dog, stand your ground. If you have any pics of blood and guts, present them.

But they know full well that hitting a dog could cause that much damage. They're just hoping you won't file a claim.

Rockauto has the covers "reconditioned" for $186.

You can repair cracked bumpers easily if you use the right stuff and the are where it cracked will be as strong or stronger than it was originally.

Any more info on this site? I see the prices but what exactly does "reconditioned" mean? What type of shape do these typically come in?

When dealing with the dealership, even the parts don't come cheap with my prior Toyota experience I agree with the bodywork part though. I used to have good luck with a local Mexican shop with paint matching, but now I moved to a new (bigger) city so I'm back to searching...

best way is to find it in a junk yard and do the work yourself... but our cars are hard to come back in the junkyard...
