Anyone know the cost of a replacement front bumper for an FRS? The dog looked a lot worse afterwards.. Attachment 70748

That's a legitimate comprehensive claim. Hopefully you opted for a low deductible...

Is the dog OK?

dog gone

He booked it after I hit him, but there's no way he could live for long. I did clean blood/tissue off before I took the picture. Dark roads here in GA... My deductible is a grand and I was hoping it would be less than that to fix.

Best taking it to a body shop for an estimate. If that's an actual cut on the bumper...do not let them repair it. You never want to repair cracked bumpers.

Well, that means your best estimate will be around $995. :)

But if you do end up using your insurance, try to find a Porsche-certified repair facility. They have some serious certification requirements. There might be one such shop in ATL.

You might as well get your money's worth on the repair.

I just had to replace my front bumper. Was just over $1k -- But I also needed a new passenger side light assembly, new grill, and mounting hardware. If that is all OK, then the bumper cover is around ~$325 iirc, plus labor and paint.

Don't make the claim regardless. It will go on Carfax and you will lose way more than $1K on the resale value.

Someone hit my car in a parking garage. A witness saw it and recorded the license plate. I made a claim against his insurance, which they paid.

When I went to sell my car, craigslist was a problem and dealers wouldn't take it because it had a note on carfax. They make no distinction between a car practically wrecked and one that had been scraped. Had to sell it for $2K less than it would have been worth, despite the repair. I would have saved money to repair it myself. The only justice was that the guy had a knock on his insurance, so his rates likely went up.

I would see if you could find a car in the same color that got rear ended and see if you can get the bumper off them. Non-factory repaints of bumpers tend not to last.

Going through this myself right now as my car got backed in to in a parking lot? (bumper scratched/dented/cracked coming out of the mall) $280 for the bumper + paint and install myself. I expect to be out of it $600 when it's all said and done but I can't get my local dealership to quote me for painting a factory bumper without installing it. Only even considered dealer because of the complexity of some of these colors... and I know they had to go through training for them so I figure if anyone is 100% liable it's them.

Liability - that's the name of the game

Did you go to the dealer to order the bumper? I can't find any local yards with what I need, nor have I been able to find it online.

Yeah, as soon as I get the body shop there to pull their heads out of their butts to quote labor and materials to paint it. They can't seem to understand that I want to buy a bumper, have it painted and leave it in my garage for a while.

Dealer price for the bumper should be just under $300.

Awesome, thanks for the info. I'm headed for an estimate in just about 30 minutes. Will let everyone interested know the results.
