AP1 to AP2 changes were not about power of course it was about torque and drivability. Also there was plenty more, drastic is relative if you start detailing feature changes:

The transmission received new syncos, motor has more changes than just displacement bump. Sway bars, spring rates and dampers were changed. Wheels and tires were changed. Gauge cluster was updated along with head unit and interior trim which also improved shoulder room. Cup holders were redesigned. I could go on but like I said its relative.

This is exactly the kind of update the 86 will get.

Buy a twin and enjoy it now, though I'd get the BRZ

Weird. I have a 92 prelude. Had it for about 10 years and can't seem to part with it. The Frs reminds me a lot of the prelude. You have me wondering if I'll ever part with the prelude. Haha.

The only reason I parted with my Gen 5 Prelude SH is that it had 300,000 miles on it and the engine was about done. Oil in the water was the main problem. I loved that car. Highway ride quality was better than the FRS so I liked it better as a DD. I drive 400+ miles a week just getting to work and back so the DD thing's an issue, but obviously not one that kept me from getting an FRS. That decision was a no-brainer! (I was afraid I'd end up in a Genesis or something like that.) I doubt the DD thing would be a big deal for most people. Also keep in mind that adjusted for inflation the Prelude went for about 36K.

The ATTS on the SH helped handling somewhat in tighter curves like on ramps but in general you had to have some speed for it to do any good and even then the limits were low IMO. Plus it was nose heavy so in any kind of slalom situation it was terrible.

The FRS shines here and it's the main reason I like the car. Plus it looks great and gets a lot of positive attention. On the other hand, the FRS is sooo sensitive that even on straight stretches of highway it's a bit skittery and you've got to really pay attention, and the ride is much more rigid -- that's a good thing -- and I wouldn't expect anything else from a car that handles as well as the FRS -- but still and all it does jangle the nerves a bit on longer highway drives.

I thought of the Prelude as a sport coupe or sporty car but the FRS is a true sports car. It's an amazing car for the price and I'm really glad they came on the market before the Prelude died.

+1 for Prelude owners!

I just sold my 2001 Prelude SH for a Monogram.

Only regret is sellers remorse...I wished I kept the Prelude...the condition she was in will be really hard to find again...I have had nightmares where I couldn't find a clean title Prelude.
