Anyone who can say that the stock seats are functional after ever sitting in a Recaro is certainly built differently than me.

The stock seats are about the worst bucket/sport seats I have ever sat in as far as lumbar support goes. The seat bolsters are fine but the back bolsters push your shoulders too far forward and force your lower spine off the backrest so it has literally no support. They might be fine if you are tooling around town, but I regularly cruise cross-country and drive 12 + hours at a stretch andthe factory seats are, imo, terrible for that type of driving.

I swapped in a set of Recaro Sportster CS seats and it made a WORLD of difference.

YMMV.

The OP is wanting the cheapest seat he can get. That's not the same as getting Recaros.

I definitely agree with that! Sorry for the thread highjack.

To steer this back to the OP's request, Corbeau makes some inexpenses fixed back seats that would work, but you will have to get brakcets/sliders. Ebay has a BUNCH of knock-offs but who knows what quality they are?

You guys really think these seats are great? They're by far the most uncomfy seats I've had in the 4 cars I've owned. The seats in my TDI are downright plush compared to these. Sure, they're perfectly functional stock, but so f-ing hard! I'll keep considering the seats in that 1 link and pull the trigger somewhere down the line, thanks guys!

I genuinely wanted to know your reasoning. I think they're great, but they're not for everyone....and I don't know if you can really compare them to german seats.

Factory seats are pretty fitted, so if you're outside of that range (this is a nice way of calling you a freak :P ), they won't be comfortable.

One could probably easily bend the shoulder wings back a bit and have an upholstery shop fix the lumbar issue.

On the subject of cheap seats, don't. Cheap seats have been found routinely be extremely unsafe. IMHO you're better off finding an OEM seat you like and having brackets made (or buying a quality name brand seat).

I'm 5'9 163lbs size 32, my dimensions match the seat fine lol. I would just like a more aggressive, comfortable, aftermarket look. Brand has never mattered to me with seats. I never thought about them being unsafe though... hmmm...
