If you weren't way too far away I'd offer up my car.

I have a feeling the advertised results are stock baseline vs their tune + spacers, even though they claim the tune wasn't touched.

IMO, if you could really get 20hp safely from just spacers like this there would be a lot more on the market right now.

I talked to crawford and they want to stand by the product. I told them ill gladly test it and purchase one of the first sets. They told me sales will call me later today to get my info and send a set out. If no locals want it I will throw it on my friends FRS that she just bought. its completely stock (minus an air filter but we have an oem filter with 1,500 miles we can use!). Ill end up racking up a fair dyno bill in the progress though hopefully I can get lucky and it doesn't require too much re-tuning on the tuned test. I just need my own dyno at this point lol... Paying for tests like this gets expensive!!

wouldn't we need a new charge pipe as the intake manifold will sit higher?

I think the point is that they claim that they make power (I guess we're assuming reliable power) without a tune, not that the part doesn't work, when the part is introduced post MAF.

If you have enough flex available in your charge pipes you should be fine. I think I will have enough flex in mine as mine goes over the radiator.

For us turbo guys,
We do not have that flex on our pipes

There will probably be enough adjustability with the FBM charge pipes to get these to work, but I wouldn't worry about it on a forced induction car.

You aren't using couplers on you charge pipes? I am turbo... lol My vortech kit would have had plenty of space to flex the final charge pipe up. Hell it actually would have helped with clearance for the OEM pulley size! Though it would be really close to the hood, if you removed the insulator it would have fit if there isnt a support right there (i haven't checked).

I haven't read the whole thread so forgive me if this has been said already.

I have to disagree with this statement. Here are my reasons. 1) If you increase the runner length, then that will improve volumetric efficiency due to an increase in velocity of the air stream at lower revs. NA engines usually have VE of 80-90%, so long runners could improve it to maybe 85-95% depending on engine. My guess our car is closer to the high end of the VE range due to 4 valves/cylinder and advanced flow dynamics from using advanced computer designing. Remember - Short runners improve volumetric efficiency at high rpms and long runners at lower revs, which is why you see that the peak hp is 500 rpms sooner with the long runners. This is evident with some makes i.e Mazda RX8 original design, and the old Mazda 787B rotary that had intake runner "stages" to go from long to short as the rpms climbed.

2) why would tuning be required? They're not changing anything about the air/fuel ratio. The maf/map are still calculating the amount of air entering the engine.

If I'm wrong on this feel free to correct me. The rest of the thread with all the e85 stuff is out of my knowledge range...:-)
