The Full Blown radiator also is designed with the mounting posts positioned to move the radiator forward for a little extra clearance if you're running a front mount turbo kit.

I ended up modifying the mounts and moving mine forward even more to gain the clearance I wanted, but the FB radiator does mount further forward than other aftermarket radiators. It's a nice unit.

For what it's worth, having the FBM Shroud+Rad helps the SPAL fans instantaneously cool off the radiator.

My car warms up to 213 in hot Florida, I hear the fans come on and drops to 203-208 within 10-15 seconds.

In fact it really only runs hot when oil temps are too low. Even then nothing above 213, pretty solid IMO and I'm not worried about Florida Summer heat anymore.

Also fwiw, the FBM oil cooler keeps me below 230 oil temps even at idle with 98 deg ambient

Do you think one can get away without a vented hood with this new setup or would recommend a vented hood to help with the heat?

I have reason to believe you might be able to make an educated guess wether a vented hood would be beneficial on hot days with spirited driving.

Thanks!

I had other cosmetic reasons for a vented hood than just heat scavenging, but honestly in Canada I don't think you "need" one. There's plenty of turbo guys in Florida without vented hoods that run fine.

It's really more pain than it's worth if you can't park it under cover or have a second daily driver IMHO. If there was a solid downpour here and I parked it outside it would soak the entire engine bay.

Having said that there are some vented hoods with raid guards, my new Varis hood has them so I keep them in the trunk. I'm in the garage at home and at work so I'm too worried.

Yeah I mean we'll get some days of 86-90 degree weather but for the most art in my area it stays around 74-78.

I do however think I would get the Varis as well due to the rain guards, how do they work? Do thhey just slide into the openings ontop of your hood?

I think my best bet would be to drive it agressively it on one of our hotest days and see what happens temeratures wise. It is my summer DD so about 6 months of the year, so I can see the hood becoming a PITA with a lot of rain..

Thanks for the input!

Seibon apparently has rain guards too.

The Varis ones bolt into the underside of the hood and channel the water to the front bumper drainage.

Just for quick installation, I'm going to buy wingnut bolts to make it faster to put them in in-case of an emergency

Hmm I thought I recalled you stating your previous seibon hood didn't come with rain guards.

So I am guessing the vents become useless when the guards are in place or would they still manage to pull some heat out? I'd love to see a picture of the hood with them installed.

Mine did not, however this was last year, I heard they have them now.

The vent do not function with the raid guards in place, basically seals the hole.

I might be able to get some pics this weekend.
