Edit: I pay about $3.55-$3.70/gal for 91 (highest we can get here.... midgrade is 89). Screw the northeast, your gas prices are as horrendous as CA's.
I'm going to hate this tank of gas so much. Getting in the car after I get off my commuter from work is one of two best parts of my day. Its the gift that keeps on giving.

You'll live. If you're on a stock tune, it's conservative enough to survive just fine, b/c the stock tune allows for situations like this to happen from time to time. It's not good in the long run to constantly run 87, obviously, but for only 1 tank if you drive carefully, you'll be fine and your car won't noticeably complain too much.

Now, if you were boosted on the other hand... then I'd say you'd need to get the tank flushed and filled with proper 93 before you drive it next.

Yea its all good. There are people out there who run it all the time to save a few bucks. Worse things have happened, clearly.

I do like that this thread has covered the gambit and now we are into who packs what. Much success!

So this state just made it mandatory for all gas stations to offer full service.

I remember the first time i drove in oregon, got out to start pumping gas and the dude lost his shit on me. I told him to calm his tits and that I worked at a gas station two towns up and that i'm certified (lying out my ass) and he accepted it and chatted me up about pumping gas. Thankfully i had pumped gas as a kid in ottawa so i could BS with him.
Huh that makes more sense to me, here in NY it is only self service but a button for a cashier to come out and pump gas. Now I feel discriminated against they have the option and I don't! But I'd rather control what goes in my vehicle, no drips on the paint when you take the nozzle out, and no chance of scratches.

In the states which forbid you from pumping your own gas, you're usually also not allowed your constitutional right to bear arms either. No actual causal relationship between the two other than the kind of mindset that legislates the one is perfectly capable of legislating the other as well, regardless of higher constitutional authority.

Just b/c you're safe with a gun doesn't mean you're safe with a car, and vice versa, btw.

Technically Glock 19 is 9mm, 45ACP has no realworld difference in penetration and stopping power, but has more recoil. Most states that restrict your ability to pump your own gas also only let cops carry guns (without severe restriction) so their does seem to be a correlation there. You might be onto something...

Well said, I am safer with a gun than driving my car for sure. I guess legislators feel safe in their car so since they don't need to get out of it aside from being home (with private security) or at work (police security) they feel that guns are unnecessary! We have broken the code, quick start sueing about paying to have gas pumped and you get our guns rights back!

You're going to tip someone for doing a "service" that you're forced by law to obey in the sake of safety? That's like tipping a police officer for pulling you over for speeding... Silly northerners! lol

It's not about if they feel safe or not. No matter where you live, cops are allowed to carry guns b/c they have to carry guns, even if other civilians are denied that right (unconstitutionally, obviously). It's about power and buying votes. Always has been for those kinds of politicians. Why do you think so many pander to unions... easy vote buying.

Same here. Get these folks stuck in going-no-where work like pumping gas, and you've created a voting block that will vote for you if you keep the welfare money coming in. They're stuck, they're told to believe "We're from the government and we're here to help".

So, you get initiative-less morons pumping your gas.

Why the hell I'd let them touch my car is beyond me. Then again, I don't let them do it. I pump my own gas and I wash my own car (well, just starting to learn this... never had one whose looks I'd cared this much about before). I also pay my own car payments, rent, utilities, and taxes.

Its nice to see that every forum can be a gun forum, thanks for the support. This is the first car that I actually love everything about, so I know that feeling. Still grinning every time I see her and its been 9 months. My girlfriend isn't even that lucky.

Although New Jersey and Oregon are the only states which forbid owners to pump their own gas, there are several municipalities in Massachusets which have also outlawed car owners from filling their own tanks (safety reasons). Those towns are Weymouth (where OP lives), Upton, Milford, and Arlington.
So this is the likely reason the OP does not pump his own.
