Update stock ROM (EU)
Hello!
I have ZA1JA00G as stock rom and I assume that the new rom would be A01G or 700G. How is it possible to update my stock rom to the new one? I have read that the new roms are better in regards to the different issues find on the FA20 engine (DI failure, rpm dip, etc.) Do I have to go to my dealer and say that I have some specific issues? Or should I just go there and ask for an update? I don't know if my writing make any sense, I hope so. |

Last time I went in for a regular oil change I told them the car had rough idling and asked if there were any ECU updates. They said they would take a look for me and of course they did nothing about it and I still have my ancient 700G ROM. I too would like to know what conditions would prompt a dealer to update the ECU. Seems the TSBs are a USDM-only thing.

The best way to make sure it's always up to date is to get a tune or flashing mechanism of some sort. For that purpose a $160 tactrix cable and ecuflash would do just fine.

I have to check when I get home (1 week left), because I think that I have A00G CAL ID and when I tried to Upload the A01G bin file it didn't make me do it so I had to use the A00G bin file. I'm not 100% sure, need to check the rom I have flashed in my car. When I connected the first time the OFT it did upload a different CAL ID map that was opposite to the Stock CAL ID. (ex. I have A00G and it did automatically upload a A01G or viceversa) I tought it was a mistake so I just deleted all the files on the OFT and uploaded manually the corrected OFT map. I'm quite a noob about these stuff, I'm just trying to have the most updated map, to avoid having any engine problem etc. Can't trust my dealer for shit, they have never dealt with a gt86 and don't even care much about it. |

Yep that is correct. I'm doing some tests on the B01 roms but I'm not convinced there is any reason to update unless you already have a B01 rom. We have already incorporated an idle drop fix in all our A01 roms. And it's probably more effective (although less emissions friendly) than the approach used in the B01 rom.

Simple question. I hate going to the 50 mile away dealer and waiting for hours. My understanding is that they will now flash toB01 fixing the 2012 built cars. simple up to date factory rom. I want to do that in my driveway. But it sounds like you are saying you either don't have this rom and must use a modified version of the last ROM. Now correct me if I am wrom but this Motorola 32 bit ECU has thousands of tables and not all defined. The reason I was going to buy the OFT is simply to keep up with the factory calibrations at this point. Why wouldn't you just give you customers (and potential ones) the pure 01B factory rom to flash?

I believe he was considering this at one point, but it fell by the wayside when they updated all the roms.

Shiv I like you and don't take this the wrong way but Toyota didn't change the calib for no good reason. Its the first cal update that they will flash on a 2012 build car that ought to tell you something right there. You are confessing that its a huge time consuming task, so there could very well be some changes with B01c that improve the engine life. Personally thought the whole business cass for OFT was for the customer to tweak the latest factory rom. But doing all this tuning, flex fuel, vortec, headers, etc. I think there are a lot more people who just want to avoid the dealer and tinker than risk E85 and Vortec on this iffy engine. JMHO
