It's also probably prudent to wait for some reviews of actual production models and not just the hand assembled pre-production machines. That and maybe take a test drive.

50k a year max world wide.

In the states 12k a year max for the FR-S and 8k a year max for the BRZ.

Now I could be wrong if they price this car...$21k for the FR-S and $23K for the BRZ limited. All bets are off then...

Think about it it...they don't even sell that many Scion tC a year...or Miata's....or Genesis Coupes....Honda Civic coupes....Sure the FR-S\BRZ is going to be hot, but not 100k a year units hot.
I agree with you. I think 50k-60k is the yearly figure. Honda sold on average 20k S2000 a year worldwide in 10 years. That's just a 20k average not the yearly average guys. I think the yearly average of this car will be 30k cars a year worldwide but the first couple years could surpass that amount by 20k for the first two years of hype.

If you get the highest trim and keep it stock. It'll become the next Civic/CRX Si.

With all the kiddies and tuners out there messing with a car like this it'll be hard to find a bone stock once production ends.

This is great more cars produce means hopefully more backing to produce other vehicles in this class. Hoping with a drop top

I agree back at you. There is no way they will sell that many cars.

They only got 7000 Toyota 86 units so far on order for Japan and 2500 BRZ for japan. 30k units is very attainable. 100k units smoking crack.

But this article is still good news, it means Scion and even Subaru is going to price this car cheap.

Start thinking $22k with bespoke!

If they price this car at $25k or higher, they will sit on the lots and collect dust.

All reviews are good though. But pricing will be an issue if they want to hit that 100k target.

Stop the hype. Have you analyzed the data?

100K is the target! Global sales target. In ideal world, 30K will go to JDM, 30K to NA, the remaining 40K - to EU, UK, Australia, NZ, Middle East, Russia, etc.

And these are TARGETS.

Now, current capacity: 5K per month for all 3 brands, period. 60K per 12 month year run across all three brands.

Now, NOBODY will start increasing production till actual sales start happening globally. And at expected 32K euro for BRZ Premium in Russia (just one example) it wil not be a hit. Close to 40K in some other countries (not in Germany or UK).

This car will be as rear as it can be for the first several years. 'Engineered in limited quantities' - do you think its normal? Subaru may even have a cap on total production numbers in the contract with Toyota.

And with Scion instead of Toyota in NA, most of these Toyotas will be elsewhere, but not in US.

Stop the hype, this ain't Apple.

I resolved to do this once I realized the launch models looked too basic compared to the special edition concepts shown at press events. Those special configurations sold me. Paying for a watered down version of what originally got me excited is a waste of money IMO.

Going to have to spend more money or buy crap cars if you want exclusivity at this price point.

If the launch model wheels had less tacky spokes, even fender gap ala suspension package/better offset (AKA they visually fit the car), and came with a nice aero package then that would complete the car for me. Paying full MSRP for a launch model then spending more later to address my gripes, no thanks. I've done it that way before and found myself regretting it once those special editions rolled out equipped with similar or more mods for less than I spent. I'm over that. I'll pay for a car that feels more complete. An official press regarding a new FR-S variant every year just got more solid/inevitable with this 100k annual sales figure announcement.

If 10% of people looking to buy a new car want a cheap RWD sports car, that means 46,311.8307 per state.

Depending on allocation numbers, I still think the car is going to be rare in terms of spotting one. It's good that production numbers went up but allocation and what portion the US will get is still unknown as some have already stated. Regardless, I'm looking forward to driving one.
