Hello All, First post and super glad I found this place.
I'm most of the way though installing the AVO kit in my frs a/t but the turbo discharge hose to the IC and the hose by the washer fluid seem 3-4 inches to long.

I was wondering if trimming these to length is normal for installing this kit. My knuckles are pretty beat up already so I gave up trying to fight with it and called it quits for today.

oh.. and anyone know if there's a way to connect the brake booster back up to a vacuum source by reusing the parts or do I need to shop for new hose?

Thanks so much..

matt

Hello and welcome!

First off... The hoses... There is no harm trimming them. I personally just inserted the metal pipes further into the silicone hoses. This was a massive effort. But it's up to you how you want to proceed.

As for the brake booster line... The guide suggests buying OEM parts. Forget this. There just isn't enough room in there to use the OEM parts as needed. You should have some spare tubes left after the install. Feel free to use them, or just go buy some. You can never have enough tubing.

IIRC, you're supposed to connect the brake booster to the back of the intake manifold (there is a spare barb there on autos). And tee off that line to the BOV.

Hope that helps. Feel free to ask more questions if necessary.

Hi. I had to cut the intercooler hoses on both sides to make them fit. With the brake booster I had to buy a new t piece. Something tells me it was 10-6-10mm

Thanks so much. Sounds like I'm on the right track at least.
Might give them a little trim and save some frustration.

Few more hours tomorrow should do the trick.
Thanks.

I mentioned earlier in the thread how much I needed to take off. Actually to clarify. The reason I had to trim was due to have headlamp washers. I didn't think the fr-s had them so wouldn't have expected you to need to trim. Sorry, didn't think of that earlier when I replied.

I had no issues with my pipes being too long. The rubber ones fit pretty far over the metal ones, so make sure you slide them all the way down

Did you guys lube the inside of the hose with anything before putting it on? The fight I had with it earlier was a tough one.

That was the right size. I used that size 't' and put it between the two leftover hose sections that went from the booster to the vacuum pump and routed it to the intake manifold instead.

Didn't have hair spray so ended up using a little bit of pam spray. Made it a lot easier to get things together.
Installation complete. Waiting for my map then time to go for a ride.

Anyone know a part number of a heater hose adapter that can replace the block fitting of the AVO Breather Tank?

What size is the block, do you have a pic, and what are you trying to accomplish?
