Price went up... my question is about that digital mileage display. Is mileage attached to that display? Or is it within the computer which displays whatever the actual mileage is no matter what digital display you swap to? I heard mileage is stuck on the actual digital display.

Count me out.
Plus the level tick marks are different. There are more. So besides the changes already stated, there's a bit more to it besides the lettering.

It's on there. $400 pre-painted with all the color choices.

That's not the tS Spoiler. That's the "first" (Second because it was black) STi Spoiler released.

The tS is the GT High-Style Carbon Spoiler.

Ooooooh! Brain fart. Well I'm not linking that again. He can stop being lazy and look through the thread because I've linked that spoiler in several threads throughout this forum.

So now the cluster is just the same as German cars, where the instrumentation module is encrypted. With VW I heard they have to hook the dealer diagnostic computer back to Germany to adapt a new unit.

I wonder if we can just take it apart and transplant the old module over, I wouldn't take apart the actual dials if it's hermetically sealed.

It’s not so way.
All new replacement units aren’t managed by constructors in same way. FCA /Fiat Chrysler…sells ECU “self init” without code pairing, but Body Computer don’t. You need to pairing with radio code keys. Remote too.
VW and BMW aren’t self init so you need to instruct code pairing. You need to send to HQ if master code or keyless remote was stolen or damaged. ( I suppose VW USA…)
Same way for Toyota and Subaru. These are anti-thieft rules and Japan regulations require mandatory code exchange for onboard electronic control units and for preventing mileage reset, reserved only within official network of dealers.

So you are saying as soon as the old unit is taken out, even if I swap the electronics onto the STI casing, it will need to be re-adapted (with ECU / Immobilizer / Key) by the manufacturer's computer network?

I don't know if Toyota or Subaru onboard meter mainboards are self init erase when disassembled (some MB are micro-switch protected....). If yes , you need to follow pairing schema by dealer with TIS tools or SSM3 and pay for job (like a key duplicaton). By the way....we are discussing about a new meter background with a price near $500.00.
