My stock room CAL ID is A00C, but when I sync'ed the DEV files, it uploaded the A01C tunes into the slots. Are they cross-compatible? Is there anything I should be worried about?

If I decide to manually upload the BIN files, should I use the A00C or A01C tune?

Did the same with me on the G rom A01G automatic updated instead of A00G.
I think is a bug, because when I tried to upload the bin file manually of the rom A01G it said that it was incompatible and made me upload only the A00G.

Not a bug. The A01G in the file name is just part of the name. If it is loaded in your OFT, it actually shares the same Cal ID as your original ROM. If it didn't, OpenFlash Manager wouldn't all it to get loaded or auto-generated. But with the exception of a couple locations in the ROM file (which designate the Cal ID), it is essentially a A01_ rom. We could have easily left out the A01_ in the tune file name to save confusion. But I left it in there because it is descriptive of the file and to let users know that they are running what is essentially a modified version of the newest software from Subaru.

Long story short, don't worry. You cannot load (either intentionally or unintentionally) an incompatible ROM file in your OFT. OF Manager won't let you. Nor with the OFT auto-generate an incompatible ROM file through a .dev file.

Running 1.55b stg1 now with 93 octane. I noticed this morning on cold startup (20 degrees F outside) that my car sputtered and I had to turn it over again. Then second try it started and ran fine.

That's the first time that has ever happened to my car in any temperature (I've started it in much colder temps). So I assume some of the cold startup process/idle characteristics have changed. I'll report back tomorrow on starting to see if it's timid again.

Hi Shiv,

Does this mean that, let's say an original A00 rom that has an OFT flash will read A01 when reading the CAL ID from the ecu from a software, such as Torque? Or would it still read A00 and the A01 is only associated with the "file name" on the OFT as you indicated.

Just curious if there's a way to read the original CAL ID after flashing, other than finding our stock rom from factory.

I have not used Torque so I cannot definitely answer that question. Nor is our shop car have a A00 Cal ID so I can't speak from firsthand experience. But I suspect the ECU, when interrogated, will still show it's original Cal ID (even if its A00C). Despite having A01C tune file generated for it. But if this is not the case, it really doesn't matter. Flashing back to the original ROM will restore whatever Cal ID identification it has regardless of what device is interrogating it.

The only cold start parameters that have changed with the gasoline OTS maps is idle speed at low coolant temps to prevent high-ish engine speeds when the engine is cold. Nothing related to fueling/timing/cranking enrichment/etc,. So if the car sputtered I suspect it was caused by something non-tune related.

He is in the middle of the custom tuning process. He is running an FA20 CAI which is throwing off the MAF calibration quite a bit. So we are taking things step by step.
