They cut and re-used the one on the muffler end. It is 2.5"...if you take a look, the original mid pipe swells up to that size just before the joint. The front flange was replaced, as that is where the problem is. The front of the mid-pipe is very small, but you don't get to see just how small until you look into it from inside the flange. I don't have a deep enough set of calipers to measure, but I'd say the I.D. at the front flange is no larger than 1 3/4"!
IIRC, the guy that built the Mid-pipe said the 2.5" flange he used was for a Toyota truck.

I've had 2 FR-S both with TRD exhaust and didn't experience your troubles. You had a defective product or it was installed incorrectly..or both.

Perhaps it had some internal flaw, but was factory installed. Regardless, it’s moot as far as I’m concerned. Just one line on a laundry list of poor craftsmanship examples. Good riddance!

Wow what a douche...

Anyway, the TRD is a little loud for me inside the car but its quieter than any other aftermarket exhaust ive had on my Subaru's. And I MUCH prefer the sound of this exhaust versus the sound of the intake tube...

My plan is to up the midpipe to 2.5" and go with a quality resonator to both increase top end power and reduce cabin noise slightly. Anyone have resonator suggestions?

If expecting a product to be put together with some manner of care in such a way that it doesnt rattle and clunk, and whine and clack like an old jalopy makes me a douche in your mind, then so be it, I’ll consider the source.

You must have had a bad resonator or something, no clacks or rattles or anything here.

And its your attitude thats a problem not your opinion.

My “attitude” is a result of being attacked for sharing my opinion and experience by fanboy whatever his name is.. Doesn’t matter. I’m unsubscribing and deleting my account. I hated the car, very unimpressed. I don’t see a reason to continue talking about it. Hopefully your mileage will vary. peace.

No. If you have a jack and a couple of stands, you can do it yourself. This is one of the easiest cars ever to swap out the cat-back. Two bolts and 5 rubber hangers to slide off...that's it.
