I can't complain about my Nissan, but 2013 would line up pretty nicely with my law school graduation.

The missus can have my car, come then.

Nissan can make good reliable car, just seeing 2 of my friends owning Z series (if you count 240z then 3 friends) and all agree that Z is nightmare car to maintain or mod... unless you have the $$$$ for it.
I have never owned anything beside Toyota/Lexus because I've grown up with that brand. I used to drive my friend's Z tho, it's kinda fun to drive.

WEll, unfortunately

I'm afraid this might be true. Take a look at this article.

This sucks.

Maybe you didn't know, but FT-86 isn't hybrid. They're just talkin' bout Subaru won't make Hybrid ver on FT-86 look-a-like til 2013. It doesn't do anything w Toyota FT-86.

Let's hope Toyota doesn't follow Honda's example with the CR-Z. On a positive note, I see NO source listed, dates other than the post date, or references to where these comments are coming from other than "Subaru officials" and Nick Senior. I see nothing mentioned on Subaru's US site, and I can't read Japanese to sift through subaru.jp I'm not sold on the idea that the FT-86 would even be considered as a place to put a hybrid drivetrain as this car is supposed to be about the driving experience, not being a "green" car.

Oh duh. I just read the article again and I feel kind of stupid. It says Subaru will be creating a hybrid version of the Ft-86, so I don't think Toyota is going to wait to release a non-hybrid version until Subaru comes out with a hybrid in 2013 and lose all of that business. Now I'm pretty sure the whole postponing thing is probably just a rumor derived from this info.

You got it right. Magazines are probably teasing Toyota to make them to leak out some info.

Toyota FT-86
  • 2013 Toyota FT-86: This entry-level, rear-wheel-drive sports car is being jointly developed with Subaru. Shown as a concept at the 2009 Tokyo Auto Show, the production model is expected to arrive by the end of 2011 or early 2012. Some rumors suggest it has been delayed to address styling issues, but Toyota officials tell us that is nothing but speculation.

Here, while at it, add this quote. It's from same site

Toyota already has two hybrid sport car concepts. I'm sure they are going to leave FT-86 or FR-S alone. The whole reason for this car was affordable and fun.
