H&R spring Questions.....bring on the experts
I came from the STi world, been out of the import scene for about 5 yrs. I bought me an FR-S and now I have the mod bug again. With 2 kids, a full time job, and being a full time student I can't afford to get the wrong stuff.
I had H&R's on my STi (before getting coilovers) and I would like to stay the same route on the FR-S. Im going to be ordering new wheels/tires shortly, but Im staying 17". Probably 17X8. Which H&R's will be better, the sport or super sport? Will I require camber bolts/arms to achieve a proper alignment after settling? I'm on a budget, but I dont want anything unsafe or unreliable. Thanks for the help! |

Eibachs sag on heavy cars (Mustangs, camaros, or at least the stories I've heard). I've run H&R's as well. Good springs, but not great. Save you money and go RCE since you aren't willing to run eibachs. I've run H&R's on my two cobras and my M3. I went eibach on suggestion from my E92 M3 buddy. No complaints. They are smooth when I need them to be and stiff when called for. I know a ton of guys running the RCE's with great success. If I were to do it again, that would be my only other option on these cars.

I just installed H&R super sport, loves the stance, and the ride is almost like stock...

I've used both H&R Sport springs and Eibach Pro Kit, granted for different vehicles but I thought the ride with the Eibachs was so much more composed. I absolutely hate the ride with my H&R springs. Never had a sag issue with the Eibachs on a Civic Si.

I have the H&R sport springs on my car and they ride great. Not too bumpy at all for daily driving. They only lower the car about .75", so nothing special is needed for alignment. I've driven a BRZ with the supersport springs and they are a little more bumpy, still OK for daily use if you're OK with the ride being a little bumpy. You might want to get camber bolts for the front with those. If you really want to, you could get rear control arms to adjust rear camber to get it closer to factory settings, but it won't be too bad if you had the factory control arms.

This application is diff than putting eibachs on other said cars. I think they make a quality product. That being said, they may not sag on Mustangs or other applications but many twins do have the saggy butt, which to me and many just looks horrible.
The "post pics of your springs" thread on this board has several twins with this problem, While all the H and R setups look ideal. So yes in the past your civic, silvia, mustang may have had a great stance and ride quality with eibachs, which I believe is true with these springs...most of the time the twins that is not the case. I'm going with a full Kw setup way in the future, for know I'm just going with HandR sport. |
