Question about bushing replacement. What is your thoughts on a car outfitted with all the Whiteline bushings they have? Do all the benefits outweigh the issues. Will the car hold the road better. I was eyeing the rear subframe bushings and diff/tran too. Any thoughts?

Will just upgrading pads and fluid not cut it for you? |

well they do fine now with stop techs and dot4, im planning to do ss lines this yr but id like that bite that i get from driving 4 piston cars such as 370 and my boy spoon calipered s2k. plus a little bit for the look. i jus dont want to throw off the brake balance or lose peddle firmness.

That Spoon caliper S2k still uses OEM pad sizes with OEM piston sizing. It's a bling item that offers more caliper rigidity, but no true performance gains. |

Agreed with CSG Mike!
I would do the 4 pot swap if I had them laying around, but I don't know if it's something I'd spend much money on. Better pads would make more of a difference. - Andy |

The GD STI Rotor is larger. It is 326mm or 330mm in diameter (my memory fails me..) |

RCE & CSG:
What are the best pads currently? (for both DD and track use) I used to have Porterfield hybrid pads on my S13 14 years ago (I forget exactly which model; but they were the popular ones for both dd & track..I think the R4S). Are there better pads than those these days? |

IMO no such thing as "best"...
For the street, Stoptech pads are DIRT cheap and do the job. Not a track pad though. Ferodo DS2500 is a good "agressive" street pad meaning it can take a little heat and has nice bite for auto-x but don't expect it to hold up all day at the track. For the track it will depend on tire choice. A couple of the Pagid pads (RS5 and RS19) are really good...easy on rotors and last forever. Carbone Lorraine has a few options that are similar. Both a little expensive up front. With our AP kit we used the AP Racing I think 300 pads. They worked fine. CSG had a thread recently with some pads I'd like to try. - Andy |

For street/track pads, I've run CarboTech XP8s on the street for months on end on the S2000, no problems. Some brown dust but not too bad and cleans up easily. Noise runs from not too bad to nonexistent in my experience. Particularly after they've been tracked.
Also run Carbotech XP10s on the street on the FD RX-7 for extended periods, similar results. Cold bite is actually as good as or better than the street pads I use. Last edited by ZDan; 03-01-2014 at 10:47 AM. |

I break it down into it either works for you, or doesn't work for you (you exceed the capability of the pad). The rest is all preference; some people prefer a certain type of feel, while others may prefer a different feel. |
