Went back to the show today. There was no "T" on that engine. The Toyota D4S was there too.
Honking big Garrett twin turbos on that Audi F8. I think it said they are running 6 PSI. I guess a hyper V10 needs the big turbos. I wonder if twin scroll/variable stator vanes would make it the ultimate. I heard some automaker (Porsche?) had used a variable turbine but then again its been used in the diesel truck engine industry for some time now...on another thread somewhere.
Bottom line is if you have the cash Pfaff can mod your dream car/trim your wallet. I bought an 85 GTI from them new.

My favourite at the show was Can- Jam‘s insane fully race built 500+ HP 2L STI. I can‘t honestly think of any detail they might have missed. Their shop is in my part of town and I have chatted a bit with one of their drivers who works at Steelcase Tire. If I could part with the cash I‘m sure I‘d have my WRX made into a full on sleeper street rod with a fully built engine, tranny, suspension, etc. No way Id sell my FR-S to finance it though.

The BMW 5 series has the nicest interior IMHO. It exudes quality. I have two nice cars for the price of one of those!

Anyone else care to tell us their favourites at the show? Any other WRX/STI fans here?

This car had a variable geometry turbo.

IMO Porsche marketing is like Steve Jobs, re-hashing some old Japanese production car technologies (motorized aero, vtec, active suspension, 4-wheel steering, 9000rpm redline, etc) and calling it the latest and greatest.

BTW was there a Lexus RC-F at the show? It's nice to see Toyota bringing back a proper Soarer replacement (I don't know what Toyota was thinking when they did the last one).

Yeah VNT turbos are old hat. I had a 90 dodge shadow that had a VNT turbo on it. I'm sure though with modern electronics it has become even better but it's been around forever.

The engine is definitely ours, but the sign below it definitely said DIT on it. I've got a picture of it, but didn't upload it. If I remember when I get home I'll throw it online somewhere.

You are correct. I am saying the engine had no "turbo" attached to it.

Just watched Chris Harris driving the Maclaren P1 this morning. Ummm...gotta shoot for the stars...

i posted just the four frs's that were at the show in this thread http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58876

i agree that scion's display was pretty bad....it would have been nice to see the monogram cars, and they only had one frs and one tc, plus the cam jam frs.... none of their other ugly cars either.....while toyota had 10 corollas and 10 camries in their 10 shades of beige

Gotcha

And yeah, that video of the P1 is pretty amazing. I couldn't imagine how awesome it would be to be driving it on the UAE F1 track!

Thought the show was a bit disappointing...
Kia didn't bring the Stinger (unexpected), and Toyota didn't bring the FT-1 (expected).

That's what we get for being Toronto....

Plus no 918 Spyder I was definitely under whelmed by the show in general.

All the Porsches were hermetically-sealed to prevent contamination by "the people"

A shame, really - I wanted to take a seat in the Cayman or the 911 Turbo they had there.
Also kinda sad that many of the cars which were unlocked for showgoers had to have interior bits like shift knobs, radio knobs, etc. removed (either by the staff, or worse, by the public)

They should just raise the ticket price to $50 bucks, then forbid anyone under the age of 16 from attending. That will keep these losers from going to the show and ruin it for everybody, at the same time give manufacturers confidence to up their game at the show.

Sorry to hear it was underwhelming. I felt the same way last time I went a couple of years ago.

When I was younger I used to go every year and was always super pumped about it.
