How's the show this year? Are they still locking up the nicer cars? Kinda stupid if you ask me, I mean how am I supposed to choose a car without even sitting in one. If I have to goto the dealers then I wouldn't need to goto a **car show**. LOL! Sorry for the rant.

Good
They had a lot of pricier cars opened to sit in
All the Maserati were open...but my favourite has to be the f type....they probably had to wipe off my drool from the steering wheel

That Rabbit is pretty awesome

No open Porsches though. Nor could you sit in the S3 or the new WRX or STI. M235 was locked too (although I was able to talk my way into it a few times since I am giving it serious consideration).

Was hoping to see a Monogram FRS, no such luck - in fact the whole Scion display was a joke, looked like a display you'd expect from a third-world car maker.

Thought that P1 looked absurd personally, completely over the top. That GT3 Cup car, though - wow. The new Cayman looks great too.

Fun fact: The BMW sales guy ("CA" in BMW-speak) I dealt with did not even know what a differential was (I was asking him about the availability of the M-Performance LSD option for the M235i).

Agreed. And (apropos a thread I started earlier today) the driver's sightlines from that car are just mind-blowingly good by contemporary standards.

"CA" in Wallyworld speak?

^ loll

I was surprised at how small the engine is. Too bad we didn't get the one right beside it :(

wparsons 02-22-2014 09:20 PM

That's our engine, even though the sign below it said it was the DIT.

No car will ever compare to an older 911 (even the 993's were great), there's basically no blind spot at all in them! My MKII GTI was pretty good, but the C pillar had a bit of a blind spot. Nothing compared to my FRS, but more than an older 911.

General visibility wasn't really a problem until about the mid 90's if you ask me, and just got progressively worse since due to thicker pillars, smaller greenhouse, and ever raising belt lines and hood lines (dam EU regulations).

Somehow missed the exotic car section last week. The P1...WOW!

Thats a lot of rear diffuser on the Lamborghini.

Had a Gr 8 math teacher who had the original Rabbit with Blaupunkt spherical rear speakers. Hard to believe that was considered a good handling car for the time. Brought rise to the Omni and a bunch of other hatches.

Paid special attention to the new WRX and STI but really they were nothing to look at. Some cars are best ppreciated when driven. Would love to put a new WRX twin scroll in my Scion.

The Can Jam FR-S was undriveable with the wheel size it was displayed in.

Thanks for sharing.
