Subscribed. I think there is more to this story than OP owns up to.

Let's approach this in a logical sense...
If your car has no oil -- where did the oil go? This means: 1) Dealer didn't put enough oil. 2) Car burned it all. 3) Oil Leaked Out. If 1 -- Dealer is held responsible. You paid them, they neglected to properly perform service. If 2 -- If the car is burning oil, this is a significant amount of oil being burned. There is an another underlying problem. If 3 -- The oil leaked out from the drain plug -- Again the Dealer is at fault. If the oil is leaking out of the seal -- there is an underlying problem. Aside from that: If your car doesn't have enough oil -- you don't mess up a "bearing". You seize the entire engine. Meaning the entire block melts together. Also -- Who gave you the quote of 6-8k? Check your work order. If you authorized the 6000-8000 estimated repair -- I'm afraid there's nothing you can do. If your work order says "Repair under warranty" then you should be good. If your work order currently says "0.00" and it doesn't mention anything about the warranty, they are just currently "tearing down the car" for inspection. As long as you didn't authorize the repair, you won't need to be forking out 6-8k. If they find out this isn't under warranty, you'll be paying for the tear down/inspection. If this is the case -- I would tell them to leave everything and to stop touching your car. Tow the car to another mechanic. Dealers always charge more. Tow it to a Subaru Specialist. |

In my mind, at least, there is something in your story that is either misleading, missing or I'm just not understanding. Has that dealership done all of the maintenance work on your car .. ?? Why do they suspect the engine gave out .. ?? Let's put that with N1rve's questions/comments and go from there.... ![]() humfrz |

No, I am not hiding anything I already admitted to running it bone dry. (My knowledge about a week) I did drive to Bellingham and back to Federal Way the week before. Because my girlfriend goes to school in Bellingham and her family lives in Fedway, that probably did play a downfall to this. I own a automatic FRS. I usually drive it in the manual paddle shift mode. What had happen was I down shifted into 2nd gear and the next thing I know my engine is "CLANKING" like think of a clank noise. @thehapaone not sure if i blew engine, just the bearing @bkblitzed i am hoping this is what is going to happen to the boy 2 fingers cross, can you give me a little more of an explanation about this situation? was the women of a caucasion decent? |

You know... there's a nice booklet in the glove compartment called an owners manual... if you had read that, it clearly says that the Oil interval is 7500 miles.

I don't think it has to do with the length between oil changes...going 2000 or 10000 doesn't matter since the problem was caused by an empty oil reservoir

But they should at least read the fucking manual... my dealer tried to tell me that the oil change was 10K, It wasn't till I bitched and showed them the manual that they changed the oil coupons to 7500 (wish I hadn't said yes to that gimmick, but they where so damn insistent and I wanted my car now!)
