I was talking with my shop about intake manifolds for our boxer engines. He said there were many aftermarket manifolds made that did not perform better than the stock ones. He mentioned Cosworth made one that ever-so-slightly outperformed the stock one, but at the expense of low and mid rage and it was Very expensive.

I'm very interested to see if your new manifold makes better power.

Just personal speculation, but I would guess better flow, consistency, weight, and price as well as the ability to be blingy or OEM looking.

Are you sure your shop was talking about intake manifolds or an intake? All of the intakes on the market fail to outperform the factory box with panel filter and modified duct to a degree that can be justified as more than margin of error. I have seen actual dynos with up to 6hp of gain but that was over a totally stock intake and those numbers are always on open hood dyno runs. With heat in the bay, real would will net less.

Hey Carlos, we chose cast for a few different reason. The quality consistency can't be beat for the price.

Also, with a cast design we can make bends and transitions that you cannot do with a tubular design.

My "our" boxer engines you mean the older EJ motors. The FA20 is a new motor that is quite different than an EJ.

Our engines also make far more power lb per lb than the ej25, which has a half a liter of displacement over us. Simply because it is a boxer motor made by subaru doesn't mean it wont see decent gains from an intake manifold like the others. Compression, headflow fueling and cam size all play a huge role in the improvements we have seen from the FA20. For all we know the intake manifold could be the biggest restriction thus far, but I doubt it.

I look forward to the results!
