FBM Intake Manifold Release

We have decided to produce an intake manifold for the Fa20 motor and are in the beginning stages of the design.

The goal here is to design an intake manifold that will make power for both naturally aspirated and forced induction setups.

While the final product will be months out. We are hoping to have a plastic sample done that we can test shortly.

Once testing is done and we are happy with the results, we will move onto creating the production pieces in cast aluminum.

We will keep this thread updated as we go :)

I agree, it is about time. With rumors of cams from the big companies coming out. We feel this would be perfect

Frs300 01-28-2014 12:39 PM

now just need to do some throttle body work :P

Could you pre drill and install a plug for IAT? That would be wonderful for the higher powered / more on edge cars that are using speed density and have kits / intakes with the iat further from the manifold.

Methanol bungs as an option maybe? :)

Yes, we will have pre-tapped holes on the backside to eliminate vacuum blocks / Tees and have provisions for sensors

That can be an option for sure

We are starting with a 70mm opening on the manifold. DBW throttle bodies are a little tricky, but definitely on our to do list.

Fantastic! I just figured you guys would know where the optimal location for an IAT would be due to the fact you designed it. I am extremely interested in this.

Do you have plans on some sort of heat resistant surface to keep heat transfer from the heads to a minimal?

BlueDubbinTDI 01-28-2014 01:14 PM

Nice!

Yes sir, they will be provided with a thermal gasket. We are ditching the factory o-ring style seal.

Interesting.

With everything that FBM is doing.. I wish I was still living back in MN! Thanks for all you guys do for the tuning community (especially the BRZ/FR-S/GT86 platform).. keep up the amazing work!
