yes, and for race use clutch is the way to go.

you said hardcore enthusiasts right?

i'll be perfectly happy with the torsen, but not if i wanted to maximize my track potential.

lol whine? its the reality of the situation...ill get one in 2014 or something...now i have to decide between a pre-owned Porsche Cayman S vs 370z vs 135i/335i

If that were strictly true they would not be used in such a wide variety of motorsports, including Formula 1. I don't think anyone's going to lose sleep over the fact that you wouldn't be happy with it when trying to maximize your track potential, and I don't think it's a stretch to say the differential was a factor in the number of GTs/GT-Ls sold.

i'm not arguing or denying anything you've just said

you made a statement that places a factory installed toyobaru toresen (the very same one they put in their F1 cars ) as a reason for hardcore enthusiasts to pick the GT over the base.

You are 1. putting words in my mouth and 2. assuming "hardcore enthusiast" is synonomous with "hardcore spender." There's plenty of people who will be tracking and autocrossing the car extensively in stock form (where classing regulations may not even allow differentials to be changed) for a long time to come. I am one of them. Maybe you wouldn't consider me a "hardcore enthusiast" then. If "hardcore enthusiast" is what you call the people who trade the stock torsen differential for a cheap chinese clutch pack then perhaps it'd be easier to simply call them "hardcore idiots" though.

Wait, I don't get this.

If you were cross shopping those cars to begin with, why was the FRS even on your radar? It doesn't really compare to the cars you listed that you're looking at /purchasing.

it's a common theme on this site, people comparing the FRS/BRZ to other cars that they really can't be compared to.

There's nothing wrong with cross-shopping cars, which is different than trying to do a straight up comparision. I know my journey that lead me to the FR-S went through a wide variety of cars that you can't directly compare, but did meet what I thought were my DD needs. My list was a lot more varied than his and included things like:

Chevy Volt
Chevy Cruze
Late Model Corvette
Camaro ZL1
Toyota Tacoma
Genesis
Honda Fit
and a host of others.

Each one of those meets a different portion of my DD list. Since I'm not looking for a track car, any of them are perfectly servicable for my needs, they just don't all meet my wants.

"All FT86 siblings are being built at the same plant in Japan. In order, and in sequence. There is a set operation and order to precise numbers of each car, and increased orders in Japan will not delay US deliveries as first batch of European and USA cars for both Subaru and Toyota are in precise sequence. More orders in Japan just means they get to wait longer in line, while USA and European cars are assembled according to plan and sequence." - Moto-P
